Feeling at the end of the road
« on: February 12, 2023, 07:46:11 AM »

Well, I feel as if I'm back to square one!

I increased my oestrogel to 4 pumps at the beginning of december. My sleep started to improve and things seemed to be going okay. I did notice however after about a month on the 4 pumps, my tinnitus returned ( may not be connected) However, since January I also noticed my boobs were very sore, this gradually got worse to the point where they felt 'hot' to touch and were also massive and felt heavy. Last week, after my sleep being okay I had what I can only describe as what my sleep was lilke when I first started hrt in august, I was tired but my brain felt wired and I got about 1 or 2 hrs sleep.

After a lot of thinking I decided a few days ago to reduce my gel to 3 pumps to see if that helps my boobs, as I was wondering if I was on too much gel. One of the main symptoms is sore boobs ( I know that's also side effect of the gel but I had the sore boobs initially after about 1mnth in, but the sore boobs came back).

Last night, I again felt tired but wired and again only got about 1 or 2 hours sleep.

Is this just my body adjusting to the decrease in gel? I'm even thinking about taking the utro in the morning just in case it could be that ( I use it vaginally)

To be perfectly honest, I really feel at the end of the road now; I've even started to wonder if my symptoms were a result of the menopause anyway. Initially my symptoms were tinnitus, insomnia and anxiety. I am post meno and before I started hrt my estradiol readings were 19, however my gp said he expects post meno ladies readings to be low.

Sorry for rambling on but I really don't know what to do and could do with some advice regarding all this mess.

Disco, I am so sorry you are going through this. It is like we find the right dosage then suddenly symptoms return. I can understand why you are fed up with it all.

I notice you are very sensitive to any HRT changes. When you make any changes you seem to really feel them. It sounds to me like your body needs time to adjust. I know that is no help when you are tired and unable to sleep. I would try the ultrogestan in the morning just to see how that goes.

With the pumps, is there a way to have 3.5 rather then 3? I expect not but just thought I would ask.

Please do not think you will be how you were at the beginning. This is just a blip and you will find the right balance.

I do sympathise, there is nothing worse than tired but wired and this has been my last symptom to truly conquer. Firstly absolutely no caffeine - sad but true - even first thing. Secondly yes slightly dial back your dose of oestrogen. Thirdly try the utrogestan orally for a short time in case that enables you to benefit better from it's sedative properties. When I am tired but wired none of the otc stuff makes any difference but ... I do rate CBD oil. I just had a month of the most dreadful insomnia - I don't need to take utrogestan as I have had hysterectomy but I started it ten days ago and also reduced my oestrogel from 4 to 3 and fingers crossed I am now sleeping very well. It is a moving target tho and come the hot weather, doing more exercise etc I expect I shall have to increase the oestrogel. Defo for me in winter I don't need so much oestrogel.

Hi Flossie,

I do feel truly dreadful, but thank you so much for your reply.

I put 3 pumps on 5 mins ago but have just stuck a tiny little blob on. Maybe going from 4 to 3 was too much of a drop for my body.

Hope you're doing okay xxx

Hi Gnatty,

Thanks so much for that useful information,

I was thinking of taking the utro orally at night to see how I was, I just don't want to change too many things all at once.

I've heard about some women not needing as much oestrogen in the winter, and needing more in the hot weather.

Thanks so much for your reply, I really appreciate it xxx

Hopefully the tiny blob will help as you did not drop by a whole pump. So sorry to hear you are feeling dreadful.🤗

Hey disco
Sorry you are feeling rubbish again. Whenever I get in a fix with symptoms and hrt, I just stop and give my body a rest, to see where things are at. Maybe you could do this?

I personally don’t think increasing oestrogen is always the way forward but some women need it and that’s fine.

It’s definitely a moving target, which I don’t really understand once post menopause?

Gnatty, which CBD oil do you take please ?

Good luck disco, you will get there eventually 🤞x

Hi Nas,

Hope you're okay and thanks for replying.

You're correct I don't think increasing oestrogen is always the answer, but if I need it, I'll do it. Getting the right balance seems to be impossible.

Take care x

Hello discogirl.

I can't advise you I'm afraid but I wanted to send you my support. Why this journey has to be so tortuous I don't know but we struggle on.

The other ladies on a similar regime have the experience to help you and knowing you are not alone is helpful I'm sure.

I hope your day improves and sending hugs.

Wishing you well.

K.

Nas, the CBD oil is by Evopure and it's their sleep formulation. I did quite a bit of research and this company has a very good reputation x
