Using vagifem and ovestin for urge incontinence
« on: February 09, 2023, 03:45:52 PM »

Hi ladies
Has anyone tried using vagifem and ovestin together for urinary urge incontinence?
A bit of background info, 64, on evorel 50 patches for a year, also ovestin cream, I've been on some form of hrt since  my 1999 hysterectomy, and been on many forms of urge incontinence medication since 1996.
Was using mirabegron till April last year, but I came off it as I constantly felt my bladder wasn't emptying properly and felt irritated.
Now I'm getting the urge incontinence symptoms back with a vengeance and wondered if using vagifem pessary and ovestin together might improve things, first would need doctor's approval
Thanks Susan

Yep.  Certainly won't do any harm and if it's vaginal atrophy will certainly improve the need to P!

Thanks clkd
Today has been a really bad day for peeing
Must have been about 10 times already today! Good exercise I suppose, as our loo is miles away
Now I've just got to put the idea to my GP
Thanks again

Needing to pee constantly is definitely one of the symptoms of VA. No harm in trying the treatment, it should cut down on the constant need to pee.

Thanks Ayesha
I've tried many medications in the past, but they all come with bad side effects.
I've just recently put two and two together and realised there could be a connection with VA and urge incontinence.
I think I'll try increasing my ovestin dosage to daily instead of twice weekly to see if that has any effect
Can't do any harm

Some require nightly VA treatment.  For a long time.

Mightn't harm to at least do a two week reload - then go onto maintenance dose. For me with estriol cream that's three times a week.

Thanks clkd and limpy
I'll try both your suggestions, and if needed I'll keep to nightly dose

pumpkin seed oil can really help.  I know because I used to get chronic cystitis (non infective) and pumpkin seed oil helped with that but when I looked into it, it's also good, if not better, for urinary urge problems

Hi KaraShannon
Thanks for your advice
I've tried pumpkin seed oil tablets before and they seemed to work quite successfully for a few months, then for me, they seemed to stop working.
Just bought some multi vitamins today, and they actually contain pumpkin seed, so I'll see what happens
