VA & Frequent Urination
« on: February 04, 2023, 01:16:38 PM »

Currently using Blissel Gel twice a week for VA which has helped enormously however, I have suddenly developed the constant feeling of needing to pee, even when there's nothing there.  The GP has checked for UTI, but tests came back negative.  She explained it can be a symptom of VA and that there is medication she can put me on, but I've to give it a couple of weeks to see if the gel eases it.  I was up 6 times through the night and by 5am this morning, could've sat and cried.  Was just wondering if anyone has any advice/tips whilst I'm 'waiting to see if the Blissel helps?'

Thanks.

Hi,

Have you checked the side-effects listed on the leaflet that comes with Blissel Gel? For example “Needing to pass urine more often or pain on passing urine (cystitis)” is listed as a possible side effect of the Estriol Cream I use. (Unfortunately, I couldn’t find an online information leaflet for Blissel Gel to check for you.)

If this is the case, it could be that another treatment would suit you better. Just a thought anyway and I hope this might help!

There are not many of us on here who suffer with VA find a twice weekly dose of treatment is enough, and that’s with the more potent treatments.
I am using Vagifem pessaries, Ovestin topically and moisturiser every day.

You might find that Blissel Gel used twice a week is just not enough for you.

That regime may. not be enough, could you go back to every night to see if symptoms ease?

Thank you all so much for replying.  I shall increase the usage and hopefully it will help!  I have an appointment with the Menopause Specialist at the beginning of March, so will mention the possibility of maybe using a more potent product.  I read today that Blissel contains the lowest dose of oestrogen, so given the addition of bladder problems, this gel may no longer be suitable?  Menopause is just the gift that keeps on giving, isn't it!!
