I’ve arrived!
« on: January 27, 2023, 08:19:43 PM »

Evening everyone. I’m glad it’s Friday!
I’m Lisa, I’m 56 and I’m on the Essex/Suffolk border. The 3 biggies for me are:

1. Diagnosed with coeliac disease in September 21. Weight gain following switch to gluten-free diet. It’s a bit of a downer.

2. My husband suddenly died of a cardiac arrest last August aged 58. Haven’t had counselling yet, no idea if I’m grieving or just surviving.

3. My periods stopped in September following a gruelling hysteroscopy to remove polyps. Hot flushes, stiff joints and disturbed sleep moved in. Dr happy to put me on Evorel Sequi & Conti patches which I just started on Tuesday. Apparently, my periods will be back!

That’s me! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Hello Lisa and welcome to the forum.

I am so sorry to hear you lost your husband. It must have come as such a shock and I imagine it takes time to be able to think of having therapy.

My partner is coeiliac. I wonder if when you were eating gluten your body was not absorbing enough nutrients and now you are not eating gluten your body is getting the nutrients from what you are eating.

I hope the HRT helps. It can take time to feel an improvement.😀

Good morning Maestra, and a warm welcome to the Forum. What a lot you've had to deal with. I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. Hopefully you will start to feel a bit better physically on the Evorel. Hope it helps.
Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for your lovely replies Flossieteacake and JP.   :-* :-*
Yes, now I’m not losing all the nutrients  and calories I have to be super careful, so comfort eating doesn’t help!

I have some bereavement counselling sessions starting next week, it will be six months then. I think they give you time for the dust to settle after the shock.

It’s helpful to know it will take a while for the patches to make a difference. I think they have helped psychologically already though.

I hope you have a good day today, everyone x

You are most welcome. I think it is helpful you are going to start counselling. It is great the patches have already made an improvement to your mental health.

Please feel free to post anytime. It is a very supportive place.

What a shock for you  :'(.

CRUSE offer counselling sessions - run by the bereaved for the bereaved.  You probably feel totally lost and to have menopause thrust at you is another thing that you are trying to deal with.

Ask away.  Nowt is taboo.

Hi there and welcome to the forum, just wanted to add my condolences, how truly awful for you.
Please feel free to ask pretty much anything, nothing is taboo, like songbird said,we are all here for you, albeit virtually.
I have a wheat allergy so I know how rubbish the diet can be,I'd love a nice hot slice of normal toast with butter instead of that cardboard square that tries to pass  itself off  as bread

;D. I've started a new thread on 'spelt' so that this doesn't become overwhelmed.
