« on: January 18, 2023, 04:24:09 PM »

Hi have just had conversation with doctor regarding my present hrt which was the ostrogel gel and utrogestan daily and have now been put on everol conti patches. Has anyone any advice on whether the patches have been more effective for there anxiety and sleep.

Hi how many pumps of Oestrogel were you using ?

And are you post menopause? ….. 12 months without a period?

Hi i using 2 pumps daily i said about increasing but gp didnt want to do that. Im 52 but not post menopausal i dont think. Sequi patches were not effective and with the gel i still struggle with my anxiety/anger/sleep.However she did mention about me going privately to see a specialist at a menopause clinic as the nhs is an 18 month wait.

Evorel Conti is an hrt treatment for post menopausal ladies, so if you are in peri menopause then it’s likely that you will get breakthrough bleeding. The Evorel Conti patches are the same patches that you would have used on Sequi patches, so I don’t think they’ll be any better.

Evorel Conti contains the same amount of oestrogen as 2 pumps of gel ( roughly equivalent.) if you need more oestrogen you would be better to increase your Oestrogel to 3 pumps.

You shouldn’t need to pay to see a private specialist. They won’t give you any different advice to the above info. x

Hi i did have the same thoughts but when i asked about increasing to 3 pumps possibly, she cut me dead and said no 2 was the normal everyday dosage just try these patches for now and either get private consult or wait for hospital referral!!

I’m really sorry to hear that. Can you see another GP?

Hi does anyone know of a similar progesterone to utrogestan. There is a manufacturing issue and pharmacies unable to acquire this so im now left with nothing. Gp still hasnt come back to me even though ive been chasing this up for a few days. So do i still apply the gel in the morning when i dont have progesterone to protect me. Dont want to stop hrt as its been a nightmare to get right!

You'll be OK for a bit with no utro, possibly a month to 6 weeks. You don't say if you're on conti or sequi but if it's more than a couple of weeks I would use a sequi cycle so you bleed and thin the lining.
