Anxiety/panic attacks
« on: January 06, 2023, 07:33:58 PM »

I am getting really bad palpitations and last night I got myself so worked up and anxious that I had a full blown panic attack. I have not had this for years and really struggled to get back to sleep.
My anxiety is obviously worse than i think because this panic attack just came out of nowhere. I could feel the blood rush through my body and My feet and hands were sweating. I was so scared to go back to sleep I put the TV on and tried to distract my mind as I knew it would happen again.
I am knackered today and just wish the palpitations would go away.
Does anybody else get this.
Xx

Awful!!  Make sure that you keep hydrated and that you eat little and often.  If the body lacks energy it can go into panic mode.  Snack: dried fruits and nuts; bananas; porridge; plenty of protein.  Every 3 hours, 24/7.

I have found deep breathing useful: beginning at the toes by stretching then relaxing all the way up the muscle groups.  I've usually fallen asleep B4 I get to my waist line ;-)

im so sorry mollymoo going through the meno at 20 must have been awful for you.

the only thing i can think is if youve been on evorel conti for a while sometimes the hrt can stop working and you may need to change regime.

hopefully some more experienced ladies will be along to give better advice xxx

Anxiety is awful and I'm sorry you're suffering with it. I'm not sure increasing oestrogen is the answer but probably worth trying.

Anxiety is one of the causes for palpations and palpatations cause anxiety, its a vicious circle. You need to make an appointment with your GP to check your palpatations and what is the cause.

Hi Mollymoo

Yes I’ve been the same too recently. Really struggling with anxiety and palpitations after having my symptoms well controlled for about 5 years.

I also know what you mean when they wake you up and come out of nowhere.

Could you ask your GP for a blood test to see what your levels of oestrogen and progesterone are? It may give you some thoughts as to whether you are still absorbing and whether you need to consider changing hrt medication.

I’ve also got the Calm App, it has a couple of meditations to help with sleep.

Panic can be the pre-cursor to hot flushes.
