Drinking fluids allowed after taking Utrogestan?
« on: December 22, 2022, 09:36:32 PM »

Hi there, I’ve just started taking Utrogestan on a sequential basis for 12 days a month and while I understand the taking it two hours after food or one hour before food I’m wondering if it’s still ok to drink water or a herbal tea during the no food zone? I’ve googled this and can’t find any info so any help appreciated!

Hi. Yes, you can drink water and herbal tea. Both water and herbal tea have zero calories.

I took mine with a cup of tea, with milk, last night. No ill effects.

I drink squash, as I take mine in the evening, wait at least an hour, then munch, as I personally, due to my eating arrangements, found it a hassle to completely empty my stomach without gnawing hunger pangs.
This is just a guess, I would estimate that it's food you should avoid, not sure though.

The whole food thing is no big deal really. The reason for the rule is for consistency and because taking utrogestan orally with food INCREASES absorption - so you may just get more side effects but it won't stop working and could work better.  Changing from with food to without food through the dosing period of time may mean fluctuation in your systemic levels of progesterone which could lead to spotting or bleeding at the wrong time. That's all. No need to worry about drinks....
