NHS Consultant Appointment Arrives. But
« on: December 08, 2022, 03:32:22 PM »

Hello ladies.

I thought you may enjoy this one!

The appointment with the NHS Consultant that I have been waiting to see has at last arrived.  The letter says that I will see a member of his team at the clinic at my local hospital at 11.30 am on the 6th of April!  Only four months to wait! I hope I can hang on that long!

A bit of background should anyone be interested:-.

My first and only conversation with him was at the end of 2019 by phone due to COVID. It was a ten minute call and he followed up with a letter to my GP and copied to me. He basically said that I was mainly experiencing the emotional effects of the menopause but he believed that for my HRT 'less was more ' and I should consider reducing my gel. He said that he saw many women who were doing well on about 25mcg of gel every other day. Soon after talking to him I joined Newson Health who said I needed plenty of Oestrogen, not much progesterone and after a while some Testosterone as well.
I followed their regime but had problems with bleeding etc plus my moods were still swinging so although I am still with NH I have recently been following the advice of the NHS Consultant and titrating down my Oestrogen.
In the last few weeks I have been using only about a quarter of a Sachet and it's been a bit of a disaster. I have a return of some physical symptoms that I can handle but the low mood and tearfulness has ramped up and is very distressing. I am now back to half a Sachet and I will see how that goes. I just hope I stabilise very soon.

Take care ladies.

Oh dear that sounds ages away. I hope he is nicer in person then he was on the phone.

It really is so hard to find the right balance. I find the emotional aspect so difficult. I really hope it improves for you soon.

Hello Flossieteacake.

The Consultant is a nice person actually and he delivered my son by Cesarean Section thirty years ago so I remember him well lol.

It's a long time to wait but hopefully ladies who have more urgent issues are seen quickly.

Yes I can handle the physical stuff especially as these symptoms are very mild these days but it's the emotional changes that I struggle with.

Wishing you well and take care.

Oh sorry. I am glad he is nice and you know him.

I can understand what you mean because with the emotional aspect it feels like there is never a break from it. I wish you well too.  :)
