Exercise triggering hot flushes?
« on: December 02, 2022, 08:59:04 PM »

Hello all,

Does anyone else find that exercise sets off their hot flushes?

Sometimes even hoovering or cleaning can be enough! My main problem though is doing my hobby (sport). There is a warm up which is strenuous and then the rest of the session is less strenuous and sometimes not at all (I teach it too so sometimes teaching rather than doing).

The hot flushes are ruining it for me at the moment. After the warm up I am stricken with huge hot flushes and then feel rubbish, weak, dizzy etc for the rest of the time. Tonight it was awful as it was more strenuous throughout the hour than usual so I spent the whole time feeling like I was on the surface of the sun.

Has anyone else had this and did you manage to find a solution? I might try not doing the warm up or a more gentle one and then see how I go with the rest of the session…..but then I worry I will get unfit ! I am only 46 so could be many more years like this!

Yes this is what happened to me in the early stages of hot flushes. The only solution for me was HRT.

Hi there,oh yes, this was me too, I found that EVERY time I just stood up,boof,a hot flush,I'm not on HRT and mine have subsided, don't get me wrong, I still get hot but nothing compared to what it used to be like, I have a fan by the sofa and one by my bed and another in my handbag   ;D get a good rechargeable one, they blast cold air,or I see you can get those fans to wear around your neck now, they're quite discreet but if all that is too much hassle........HRT  :)

Sadly I’m already on HRT! It solved the hot flushes when I eat, drink hot drink, get in the car, walk into a room from outside ……

Never worked for the exercise ones for some reason. Don’t want to increase dose at the moment for various reasons.

I think I might have to try a few things with making the warm up more gentle for me. Embarrassing but I can’t go on with having the whole session ruined I guess
