No one intends any offence.  The point is that the 'woke' brigade are insisting on certain alterations in books ........ I remember when many of us owned a Gollywog - which is allowed on the side of the jar but not as a toy.  I always wanted a black doll  >:(  ::).  Because I had pretty dresses in which to dress her.

If we go into detail I have yet to meet a 'black' person or a truly 'white' person. [I'm pushing 70]  Humans are all shades which makes us all interesting.  In the past I worked with many cultures of many languages and colours.  We exchanged recipes as well as inviting each other to meals ....... most had more foreign language knowledge due to their history of invasion.  Me: English to the core, I did try French .......  :-X

'bloop' was I believe an alternative to X, Y, Z, suggested because the World is cancelling history.

Years ago I did ask if we had people of colour on the Forum and my post was removed  :-\.  I'm nosy which I why I raised the topic  ::).  Talking to others is easier for me than booking a holiday  :-\ as there is less anxiety  :'(

And here we can see why people are too frightened to say anything because who knows what little thing will be deemed offensive. Some people do take offence to Black - why else was Baa Baa Black Sheep changed? It's about a sheep not a person. When the n word became offensive black was the pc term to use. When I grew up I learned the n version of eenie mmenie minie mo at school, it wasn't offensive at the time (yes, I'm old), it was just a word. I'll lay a bet in 15 years time 'person of colour' will be offensive and there'll be a different term to use.

Fisherit? Fisherthey is plural surely?

Absolutely agree with you holidaylover. The world has gone mad! Insane even  :'(

There are too many people out there who have nothing better to do with their time than try to get 15 minutes of fame by finding something wrong with something innocent and making a massive deal of it >:(  When it comes to the colour of items, I think they are the racist ones because they are seeing racism where it doesn't actually exist.

Imagine if we change the word we use to describe items that are currently black. So we don't have a black ball, we have a bloop ball (I know, I'm soooooo creative  ;D), and we have a bloop board, and a bloop sofa, but then because we are using bloop to describe items that used to be black and are now bloop, does bloop become a word we can't use either? Is the only solution to remove every thing that is black from the world?

Getting old, I’m going to call you out on your above comment, who exactly are you referring too when you say they are seeing racism where it does not exist? And your reference to the word black being offensive?
I am a woman of colour and quite frankly your post is uneducated and prejudice, I can assure you people of colour do not want the word black removed are you not aware of black life’s matters? This is the word black used in the context that we are proud of who we are and the colour we are!
FYI , you are not creative in your use of words at all you are offensive and your comments are unfounded, I , my family and friends still call a black car black , today I’m wearing a black jumper not a bloop jumper as you suggest and my granddaughter has a black board!!!
I agree with some of the comments on this post but you have crossed a line, did you not stop to think women of colour use this forum and your comments would be hurtful?
I’m disgusted and deeply offended by your words , and disgusted that such toxic comments are laughed along with, your closing words of should everything black be removed from the world be the solution says it all about you !!

Wow, just wow!!! I'm very sorry that my post offended you as that was not the intent. I have many friends of all colours and they are the ones who say it's ridiculous that we can't still say black without some snowflake (their words, not mine) taking offence supposedly on their behalf. I have been with them wihen they have said black car, black board, etc. and they have been told that it's offensive to say that word.

As others have pointed out the post was meant to show just how ridiculous the woke brigade are being because we are now worried about what we say in case they call us out for something which is meant innocently. These days we seem to be afraid of speaking to others in case we cause offence.

Couldn’t agree with you more, Getting Old, Sheila, Jaypo and CLKD..
I, personally, thought it was obvious that the posts were in relation, solely, to “the woke brigade” (in whatever form they take).  The beliefs and requests made (in relation to these people) are, frankly, ridiculous, unrealistic, unfair and, yes, laughable - end of!!

My Mum's black dog was called "N" ......... that was in the 1930s.   ::)

I wonder how much the media influences these 'changes' for change sake?

The fact of the matter is,it should be the black community who should decide what is offensive to them, not some white person, trying to look fab because they're standing up for black people. I'd never purposely hurt anyone,no matter what their race or creed  :(

Uncomfortable conversations open up barriers.

What worries me is that the World's history is being demeaned on the back of a few.  1 University are being badgered to make their whole cafe vegan ....... there's to be a vote tonight.
