it should stop!  Mummying is a form of embalming  ::) but of course, that's in Scotland   :whist:  where 'they' think that 16 year olds can make good decisions.  Well I'm well past 16 and still wonder about my choices  ::)

Oh, geez, I know CLKD. It's a joke! You can get married at 16 up here but don't expect to be able to buy a glass of wine to toast your nuptials. I'm eyeing up houses in Yorkshire - hubby is half English. If more daft decisions are made, we're off! I'll say no more  :(

I'd go back to Wiltshire,it's such a lovely place

According to a Poll over 75% of Scots would vote against a referendum.

My view is that there are some people who really struggle with their gender or sexual identity and need support. There are many reasons for this and it can be very difficult to live with, often to the point of suicide. So my heart goes out to them.

However, Nicola Sturgeon's GR legislation is not universally supported by the Scots, of whom I am one. She speaks as if we are of one voice. It is the first time some MSPs in her party have seriously disagreed with legislation put forward, and the SNP is run with the tightest 3-line whip you will ever see. We are fed up with government overreach and interference in private and family life. Also, the legislation is full of inconsistencies with UK law at present because no-one thought through the implications seriously enough.

Not sure about 75% on a referendum. Think it would still be close, but it is not going to be the slam dunk Nicola thinks. This recent nonsense, plus a few other things, will have an impact. And there are many Scots who would support independence but not under the SNP.

Back to the gingerbread man! As others have said, he stems from a story and even if he didn't so what?! I will still be making gingerbread men, and snow men and calling them that!

Oh Zoe please don't get me wrong, I have no issues whatsoever with people who truly have gender issues,I support them all the way,it's just at the age of 16 you can't drink in a pub but yet she thinks they can change sex at the drop of a hat. I used to always vote SNP for years but not to have independence, just when they wanted their own parliament etc, think you'll always get your die hard "leavers" blimey,Scotland can hardly cope WITH the help of Westminster 😩

Jaypo, I totally agree. Should have made that clearer - sorry!

Age 16/17 is far too young to be making these life-impacting decisions, especially without any real medical or other support. The legislation is probably not going to give these young folk the support and protection they need and this could just add to their difficulties. That is why it irks me so much! I actually support the intervention of Westminster in purely legal terms.

But more public money spent on court battles. The Named Person Scheme court challenge cost the Scottish Government (public) almost £500k. Nicola needs to listen more carefully to legal advice.

CLKD - the rules on that are not as clear cut in Scotland, especially around matters of sexual health. The concern about the Scottish legislation is that no medical advice or diagnosis will be needed to apply for a Gender Recognition Certificate. Though I am assuming that there will need to be medical input if any hormone therapy or surgery is sought (a separate matter).

Applicants need to make a legally binding declaration that they intend to live permanently in their acquired gender, having lived in that acquired gender for a minimum of three months (six months for 16/17 year olds) with a reflection period of a further three months before a certificate is granted. Not sure if the reflection period is longer for 16/17 year olds. It is a far quicker track to getting a GR Certificate than the 2 years under the current UK-wide legislation.

Anyway!! This all began with gingerbread men. I need to go and make some.

The problem is,we're now seeing "people " who have now realised they've made a mistake and want their gender reversed......free,on the NHS!! And we all know how wonderful the Scottish NHS is  :-X :-X

OK Girls - which Prison should this rapist be shut up in?

A transgender woman has been found guilty of raping two women in attacks carried out before she changed gender.

Isla Bryson committed the crimes in Clydebank and Glasgow in 2016 and 2019 while known as Adam Graham.

The High Court in Glasgow heard that the 31-year-old has now started the process of gender re-assignment.

Judge Lord Scott said she had been convicted of two extremely serious charges and a significant custodial sentence was inevitable.

DH suggests that it's like throwing a cat into a mouse farm.  If a man found guilty of assaulting a child was put into a mens' prison, he would need to go into solitary.  Because other men won't tolerate child abuse.  If a man - calling himself a woman - goes into a womens' prison  :-\  ??? ........

Regardless of what he/she wants to be known as, the Trial should have continued with 'him' as Adam Graham.  As a man who committed the Crime.  When a Crime is carried out, the Trial is held in that area.
