Why is utrogestan progesterone in oil?
« on: November 01, 2022, 10:12:17 AM »

Anyone know the science behind why the progesterone in utrogestan is suspended in oil? Versus just housing the micronized progesterone in powder form?

Hiya

I’m sorry I don’t know, hopefully someone else does.
What sort of oil is it in Crispy, do you have a list of all the ingredients?

Thanks March

It's sunflower oil. Used to be peanut I think, but that obviously brought its own problems.

Just wondering if there is a scientific reason it is suspended in oil??

Hello! What I found: "The progesterone in Utrogestan is suspended in oil so that it can be better absorbed by the body. When progesterone is in powder form, it is more likely to be broken down by the digestive system before it can be absorbed. However, when it is suspended in oil, it can be more easily absorbed through the lining of the intestine. This allows the progesterone to enter the bloodstream more quickly and effectively, providing better support for the pregnancy. Additionally, suspending the progesterone in oil helps to protect it from degradation by enzymes in the gut. Therefore, Utrogestan provides a more effective form of progesterone that is better able to support a healthy pregnancy". Hope it helps!

Oh, thank you Marshallcat.

I thought it was something like that, in terms of oil versus powder - but in all my googling, I never came across anything as succinct as this. So thank you for taking the time to look and reply xx

Also better support for the endometrium, so despite all the side effects for many, that’s all we’re really offered.
