Help Itchy scalp
« on: October 16, 2022, 12:45:35 PM »

Can anyone help with recommendation’s to reduce the chronic itchy scalp I have it’s becoming unbearable!

I am on HRT but my scalp is becoming more itchy (all day non stop).

I have no eczema or other skin complaints and have had my bloods check which are all ok.

I also get itchy skin that create welts.

Increasing my HRT is not an option due to family history of breast cancer.

If there are any suggestions to reduce the scalp itch I would really appreciate it.

As oestrogen levels drop the body may become dry: scalp, deep in the ears, eyes, vagina, skin - as well as muscles may become lax = aches and pains.

DH had problems with his scalp so has been using baby shampoo - with good results.  Also, don't wash your hair as often as it keeps the natural oils rather than rinsing them out.

Hi, I would recommend massaging coconut oil into your scalp it’s very soothing. You can do it before shampooing as a conditioner or even rub it into your scalp while your hair is dry and leave it overnight. X

I went through a painful scalp and yes itchy too, I live in Australia, doctor told me to use Selsun Gold shampoo. Problem gone, I now use it one a week (I don’t wash my hair much if you wash everyday then two times a week). I swear by it, my friend had the same problem for years, I bought her a bottle, and her itchy scalp has gone too

I’ve just spoken to my dr about my unbearable itchy scalp and she’s recommended the brown bottle of TGel.  Just another symptom added onto the rest!
