Palpitations
« on: September 28, 2022, 02:56:47 PM »

Sorry to post again.

I have night time palpitations, heart really pounds and I don't know whether it's anxiety, dread of going to bed due to insomnia or my patches (side effect)?

Anyone have any clue?

Thanks a lot xxx

Hello Discogirl. It could be all three of those. You seem to have a lot of anxiety when you go to bed as you fear insomnia striking. I would say this is a huge factor in you not sleeping and also the heart palpitations. I know that is of no help as how do we get rid of anxiety? Some people find CBT helpful for insomnia and also anxiety. That may be worth considering. If you do then it can be done online and it is free.

Low oestrogen causes palpitations . I had every single test under the sun for my palpitations … they disappeared once I was on the right dose of hrt  :) .

Hi flossieteacake.

Yes I have had cbt for anxiety, it was very helpful although I did feel I needed more than the standard 6 sessions.

And yes dotty, I know I keep wandering around the same tree here (sorry xx) I do think once I'm on the right dose, I will get there, I just get so frightened and I don't know why xxx

Thanks goodness for menopause matters!!!

You can have more CBT if you feel you would like to. I agree that 6 sessions is very short.

It is understandable to feel nervous. Its all new to you and you do not know what to expect. You have nothing to be sorry for. Forums are for support.

Discogirl…it’s perfectly normal to feel frightened when such huge changes are being made to your body and you have no control over it. It’s a frightening time.

Keep asking away xx
