Some get headaches and other niggles for about 3 weeks with vagifem, once the vagina is plumped up the absorption is different so symptoms should lessen.

The pain stopped when I stopped the vagifem so assuming it's that. It's just the right side. Doctor couldn't feel anything unusual. I've started using it again. Hoping it helps as I get such discomfort the day after sex without vagifem. I can never tell whether its vaginal or urinary. Inflammation and irritation I think. Vagifem makes a difference fairly quickly. Who'd be a woman.

It's probably both urinal and vaginal irritation. It's good the Vagifem works so quickly after not using it, some have to use it and wait months for any improvement. Keep using it all the time as each time you stop you'll be back to square one. Once the vaginal walls are rehydrated there will be very little systemic absorption and the breast pain will stop. Atrophy doesn't go away, it's caused by oestrogen deficency and is for life.

Yes i know. I was asked to stop for two weeks just to confirm the cause of the breast pain. It depends which GP i see too. The one yesterdaytold me not to worry about it as its a common side effect. The last time i used vagifemi had to stop becausei had blood spotting and needed a scan.  Im hopingthat doesn't happen again otherwiseim giving up.

There are alot of side effects when you start any new medication, usually once your body gets used to it they stop. Don't give up yet, the benefits of using local estrogen now before it gets worse are worth persevering through a few side effects. It's good the doctors have checked all is ok too.
I was totally ignorant to VA and was in a right mess before I got treatment, never heard of it before. It also caused a prolapse. Took a year before i could sit down without using a medical doughnut. Been taking it 7 years now and living a normal life.
There are other treatments, Ovestin cream and Estring if need to change.
Hope one of them work out for you soon.

I had to come off vagirux because of terrible stomach pain and diarrhoea, just because a certain side effect is rare, doesn't mean to say you won't suffer from it,I persevered since January, stopped last month and haven't had pain since.

Have you been able to replace it with something else jaypo?  It always worries me if I have to change and the replacement don't suit, it's took so long to get right.

I had never heard of VA either. Nobody tells you that things change like that.  i dont have a lot of issues if im not sexually active. The problems are triggered by sex at present. It puts me off. Doesn't feel worth it when I have to suffer the consequences.  Im told by my doctor though that women in their 70s and 80s go along about the same problems. I'll have hung up my nice unnderwear long before then..

I would ask for Vagifem again. Have you checked the difference in the ingredients to see what might have been the cause of  your bad reaction. There is also a generic Estradiol tablet that i was was prescribed once that was identical to Vagifem"s ingredients that was cheaper.
