Hi Saw,
Like you I have just joined this forum and have just started on my HRT journey at the age of 49.

I have also been prescribed Femoston 1/10 and currently am on week 4. Once I realised my symptoms were related to being peri, I did loads of research on this website, it’s got a really useful section on the different options if you are peri or otherwise, the British Menopause Society website and the Balance app. I actually asked my dr if I could trial Femoston first. While I understand it is a synthetic progestogen, i read that it is the least testosterone related progestogen (other than utrogestan, which is taken separately with transdermal oestrogen) Due to previous hormonal imbalance issues in my 20/30s I wanted to avoid testosterone derived progestogen. If this doesn’t work I would then look to go down the separate transdermal and utrogestan route, but wanted the convenience of trying a single tablet. My symptoms were typical, night sweats, hot flushes, insomnia, terrible brain fog, anxiety, depression, crying all the time, thinning hair. The list goes on. After the first couple of weeks I felt this isn’t working, but now into my 4th week I’ve started to feel a bit clearer in my thinking, night sweat and hot flushes have reduced, not fully gone yet. The only side effect I have noticed so far, is the first couple of weeks I was getting heart palpitations just on an evening, which I never had before starting the HRT, but these seem to have subsided a bit. Also I now seem to be having really vivid dreams, not sure if related.

I understand everyone is different and you have to find what works for you. But I’m trying to stay hopeful, but realistic, having now started on HRT. It would be good to hear how you are getting on too.
