dry eyes / sinusitis - affecting vision and health
« on: August 31, 2022, 08:34:33 AM »

I'm having miserable time at the minute with dry eyes and blurry vision and sinusitis.  Feels like I have continuous virus as feeling heady, dizzy, difficulty focusing.   Have stopped driving and not able to go to work as feeling like may fall over or faint.   Anyone else had anything like this with dry eyes getting worse.     Thank you.  x

Hello ange. Have you spoken to your GP about this? I was wondering if you may have a sinus infection.

As for dry eyes. Do you use eye drops? I find hycosan eye drops are good.

Try omega 7 seabuckthorn oil.

Pharna nord do a good one, although you can get others.

It's heralded for dry eyes and other dry areas. Your sinuses could well be dry too. It's helping dryness in my nose. Great reviews for dry eyes and also for VA!

I found out about it only through this forum   :)

Also - I would add, hormones 100% affect my nose and ears.

Interesting, as a male friend of mine was saying yesterday that he’d had sinusitis, terrible dry eyes and excessive ear wax. He’d been to the GP and was told that all are symptoms of hay fever.

When we were younger he had terrible hay fever that made him really unwell and had to have injections for it. As he’s got older it’s subsided a little, but he still takes antihistamines during tree pollen and long grass season. However the GP pointed out that many people are affected by weed pollens. The start of that season slightly overlaps with the end of long grass pollen season, and continues until around mid September.

I’d never heard of that before, but I’m also finding that dry eyes are worse right now, so have started taking antihistamines again (I am tree pollen sensitive but usually OK by the end of May). It does seem to be helping.

thank you for replies.  My dry eyes started in  peri but in last 8 months my post meno symptoms have hit me like a brick and particularly the allergy type things with dry eyes, sinusitis and tinnitus....    Never had too many allergies as I grew up - real farm girl - but now i'm 59 and post meno 5 years they have really kicked off as oestrogen fell off a cliff..     Got to he careful with the stronger antihistamines in late 50s.60s as can have really significant impacts - didn't know that until recently either.  Can't win with things at times.

Hi Ange

I’ve been doing a bit of research for CrispyChick about dry eyes and just found this.

https://www.progesteronetherapy.com/progesterone-and-dry-eyes.html

I think you said on another thread that you no longer take hrt so I wonder if otc progesterone cream might help you?
A few MM women recently have been trying progesterone mono therapy and it’s very popular in the states.

I have no personal experience of using it stand alone, but just wanted you to be aware that some people do this.

I struggled with dry and itchy eyes a couple of years ago, during lockdown, and haf a telephone consultation with gp. Told her I'd self diagnosed dry eyes and she agreed and suggested drops.  However, when I then went to the Opticians he told me I was extremely dehydrated which had led to my eyes being bone dry. Once I knew, I realised my light headedness, tiredness and palpitations were also symptoms!

So, two suggestions from me - get an eye health check from your optician, this is still a free service from NHS. And also make sure you're drinking enough water  :)
