Controversial New Appointment
« on: August 16, 2022, 03:24:57 PM »

The Scottish council has appointed a man to oversee period poverty, the country’s first period dignity officer!
My younger self would be absolutely outraged by this appointment, what could he possibly know about such issues and how dare they!

But that’s my younger self, am I just being an old fuddy duddy!   ;D

Yep, that's the Scottish Government for you. I wonder what he's getting paid 🤔..
At £1 for 16 sanitary pads, can't help thinking the wage could have been spent elsewhere - just my opinion though  ;)

Aren't sanitary pads going to be free?
As a youngster I'd have been mortified speaking to a man about my periods

Yep Jaypo, they're going to be free in Scotland, not sure about anywhere else. Like you, there would have been no chance of me speaking to a man about menstruation  :o

It's bad enough as you get older,it's ALWAYS been a man that's inspected all my bits and bobs at hospital appointments  :-\

Songbird, will my daughter be eligible for free sanitary pads when we move back to Scotland?

Hi ladies

This is a quote from the BBC website yesterday, Jaypo.

“Scotland has become the first country in the world to make period products free for all.
There is now a legal duty on local authorities to provide free items such as tampons and sanitary pads to "anyone who needs them".

It also mentions that if someone has to choose between “pasta and sanitary products” (direct quote), then they will be entitled to access this.  I can see a very long queue at local authority premises on an ongoing basis..  :o

Will that include pasta for those in menopause  ;)

I take sanitary products to the food bank where they are put onto the table for people to pick up.  Same with soap etc..

Will this scheme extend to Schools, Hospitals and Homeless Refuges.

He's already annoyed me,he said that periods affect EVERYONE!?!? And the menopause was a natural thing but can have an impact in the home and workplace.
It'll have an impact on him if I ever see him  ;D

I know, Jaypo  >:(……and he’s only just been appointed! Imagine what more words of wisdom have to come. I, however, have a plan………
I have recently completed a YouTube tutorial on “everything to do with the prostate!” Do you see where I’m going with this? I, clearly, now have the knowledge to conduct a thorough exam.  Just say the word and I’ll pop round to his with my rubber gloves
