Hi Rainy Kelly
I’ve had to work through anxiety many periods of my life (starting periods/ post pregnancy/ peri and meno etc) and hormonal shifts are my trigger, exacerbated by outside stressors over the years.
My HRT had to be in balance and this keeps things- me- settled. I’m also a megnesium fan and recently I’ve found the Calming Anxiety app- Martin Hewlitt- as my best daily dose of anything. He does a daily podcast (Spotify) etc and is on YouTube. I didn’t engage with headspace for some reason, but I have with his work. I like his voice and process.
I shrugged off this type of thing, but in all honesty, I realised I needed to try and calm myself so I’m not ‘relying’ on my HRT to behave and my thyroid levels (I’m hypothyroid).
Yes, I monitor my HRT and thyroid, but best thing I have done to take control was to get my own thought processes reprogrammed. I’m still a work in progress, but it’s working. Who knew?? I do have to do at least 2 ‘sessions’ a day (relatively short Eg some 3-4 minutes, some 10 or 15, there’s lots to help induce sleep etc)
On the medication side, I do have emergency diazepam 5mg and take half only if I’m in complete overwhelm, but I’ve not had to use this now I’m doing my daily Calming Anxiety app. I’ve also stopped my antidepressant as I didn’t feel it was working/ helping. But This was under the GP and a very slow taper.
You might like Martin Hewelett Calming Anxiety, might not, but worth checking it out. He’s come from experience himself so seems really authentic when I listen to him.
Hope you are ok? I can completely relate to how this impacts on life. It helps to read your post and other replies to know we are not alone.
