My experience with Vaginal Atrophy is the symptoms progressively get worse, never better ........

Whereas when my GP diagnosed VA and prescribed appropriate treatment, I had relief within a couple of weeks.  It was like razor blades  :o up there  >:( until the cream got to work.

I wouldn't use anything other than the VA treatment as too much too soon could aggravate symptoms.  If the vaginal area is dry = thin skin, there may be some ultra-sensitivity initially.  A little amount 3 times a day followed by a full dose if the vagina is less sore the next night.  For however long it takes to ease symptoms.  Some require 'vagifem' nightly as well as 'ovestin' or moisturisers.

Some cultures wash after every toilet visit ;-).

Hi ladies I'm home now luckily being a med sec I can work from home. So lap tops warming up and I've got feet up. Just want to have a good cry. This is pants to put it mildly. Frightened this could be something else I feel so horrible and no one apart from lovely lab Alfie to give me a hug. I'm going to have to hit the painkillers but have to watch my ibs doesn't flare.

U have a good cry.  It will do you good!

Get a cushion with the middle cut out to rest the bum and give the vaginal area some space.

If you have IBS, could your Surgery give U pain relief patches?  'nurofen' never upsets my IBS, slow transit  >:(.  Occasionally I get heart burn if I take capsules then lay down to sleep.

I doubt if your symptoms are anything serious.  What could it be ?  A little knowledge and all that  ::) ::) and we have a thread about diagnosing everything under the sun.

Surgery are not very good. I had colonoscopy last year had to beg for that it was clear but 10 days later emergency ct scan which showed diverticular disease so  i take 10mg amitryptaline for that along with usual ibs stuff given by gastric consultant.

Hello AlfieBo. I have just read this thread. I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I am glad you have Alfie. He sounds adorable.

For me personally, I never heard of vaginal atrophy until I joined this forum and realised I had it. It took me a while for my symptoms to improve so if you are not feeling better now please do not think you never will.

A menopause Dr told me that washing in water will dry out the skin and suggested I apply E45 cream before a shower, wash it off and after the shower to reapply.

Sylk is a very gently lubricant and hopefully you will not react to it. I use Ovestin cream which is applied using an applicator. I am unable to insert it without Sylk cream.

I know this is all very overwhelming and confusing but please be reassured you can ask anything on here. Never apologise for asking questions as we are all here so support each other.

The antihistamine will kick in soon. Although hives are uncomfortable, they should go soon. Think of it like this, your skin is saying 'I do not like this'. The hives are a way of letting you know. They will soon go. Maybe applying some soothing cream to your skin will help you to feel more comfortable too.

Hi gp just rung she's asked did I think it's stress  :-\ I said don't do this to me everything I get since hubby died is stress
She's going to speak to a colleague and ring me back. Could it be body reactibgvto oestrogen  or reaction to the fillers on the estriol. Anybody had this reaction.

I would think it's a reaction to the preparation or the fillers.  Seems that your GP is keen to put everything down to stress  :-\.  Hopefully she will phone back.  Do let us know.

That is a very annoying response from your GP! I agree with CLKD that it could be the fillers. If you stop using it and the hives go then you would know if it is that.

I am so scared a I am physically shaking. Trying to keep calm but all she was asking was about mental health. So annoyed as this stuff was helping so much.

There is nothing to be scared of AlfieBo. An allergic reaction is not nice but it will pass. It is a shame you reacted to this but there are other forms of vaginal atrophy treatment. You need not think this means you cannot take anything else. Once the hives go then you can try another treatment. This will pass. Carry on posting so we can support you.
