Hi I've been given HRT patches"Evorel Conti" for first time in May and its now 9 weeks on and can't say feel any different on the whole. How long do they take to kick in.?. I have another 4 weeks supply. Do I wait or get back in touch with my g.p. Mainly for anxiety hoping would help .Any comments grateful.

Hello HippieChick. They say it can take 3 months before we know if the HRT is working. I personally would contact your GP. I expect the 3 months will have passed by the time you get an appointment anyway.

You should feel some improvement of symptoms within 4-6 weeks but the maximum effect can take longer than that . x

As Dotty says it can take longer than the three months to feel the full effect. Evorel Conti contains norethisterone which can actually cause anxiety and PMT type symptoms in some women (me included) so you may find a different HRT works better for you. I must admit that though HRT has been brilliant at getting rid of hot flushes, joint/ muscle aches and poor sleeping it hasn't changed the level of anxiety for me. It's not unusual to use anti depressants alongside HRT for this. Hope you soon begin to feel better.

For me, and lots of women, it can take 3 months or even longer for things to settle in and symptoms to be really gone. I am on evorel and Utrogestan and the Utrogestan phase caused some issues and was noticeably different until about month 7. It can take so much longer than we realise, I just talked to my private specialist yesterday about it as we were discussing my need for more testosterone than I’m taking but actually waiting another year before we do that because of this complex system and the fact my estrogen seems only just recently optimised.
