We’ve got Karndean wood effect strip flooring in our hall. The floor does have an uneven bump, which would cost a lot to rectify, but the floorlaying people were very careful and there isn’t a problem. The reason for replacing the carpet originally was because we had neighbours who allowed their dogs to roam and poo everywhere, causing people to fence in their gardens etc. It was too easy not to check your shoes, particularly the children. Fortunately these neighbours have gone. But I love the flooring and want to replace the carpet in the lounge with similar if we don’t move. I went to an appointment recently and complimented them on the new wood floor, which turned out to be vinyl and not hugely expensive. Lots of choices out there now. I would have wood or wood effect flooring throughout the house if I could afford it.
