Can I combine Evorel Conti patch with 1 pump estrogel?
« on: July 02, 2022, 02:24:11 PM »

Hoping someone can help me

I’m currently taking 3 pumps of estrogel and I take 100 mg Utrogestan vaginally every night.

I cannot take the Utrogestan orally as it makes me feel extremely sick and causes heartburn. I found taking it vaginally I have no side effects apart from it being very messy.

Over the past few weeks it has caused my groin area to become sore and inflamed as it leaks out over night and I’m very wet down there.

I can’t get an appointment to see my GP for another 4 weeks.

I have a box of Evorel Conti I was taking previously so I wondered if I could stick one of those on and top up to 75mg with one pump of gel?

Anyone done this before?

You could give it a go I guess.
The only issue is, that the conti has the correct progesterone dose for that patch. If you add the extra gel, it might trigger a bleed, as the progesterone won’t be balanced.

The other option could be a separate oestrogen patch with different progesterone or a mirena?

Yeah it’s just something I wanted to try until I can speak to the doctor.

If you’re on 75mg of estrogen how much progesterone do you need to take? Is it more than 100mg daily?

I don’t know exactly how much progesterone you need for 75 oestrogen. 100 utrogestan never worked for me at all with any dose of oestrogen. I got a coil fitted. No more bleeding and can adjust oestrogen without the worry of bleeding.

In theory, 100 utrogestan should be sufficient to cover the maximum licensed dose of any oestrogen only product.

I think you'd be okay to do that short-term, until you can get a doctor's appointment.

Short term it won't do you any harm. Some docs will say this is OK, others say use 1.5 patches so it's balanced, others will have you on a separate progestin. Some people's lining builds up more than others so you may be OK long term with patch + 1 pump but it would be wise to check the thickness after a few months to be sure. Another solution would be to use long cycle sequi (6 weeks) which is what I do as utro gives me fatigue (dose is 200mg x 12 days).
