Author Topic: Anyone on Estradot, how do you get the backing off effectively 😞  (Read 2883 times)

So I'm now on Estradot 75 after shortage of Estraderm and Evorel giving me bad migraines.

The problem I have is removing the second bit of backing plastic effectively 😞 I got the first half off no issues, placed on bum cheek, then had a real hard time getting the other side off, so much so that it became unstuck and stuck on my finger 😐 Is there a trick to get the other half off ?  Evorel patches were so much easier to apply !

Can't say I'm impressed so far, also how can something that small possibly work ?  Plus this morning my knickers were stuck to what I presume was some of the adhesive around the patch 😳

I think they’re more effective below belly button on tummy. Hence tiny size.

I just scrub in the shower the next day. And pick the bits off. Some say baby oil works.

lillith I struggle too with the second bit of backing.  I now resort to taking both bits off and holding the patch with a pair of tweezers before applying it.  I find they do stick very well  if pressed down for about 10 seconds after applying and as has been suggested the best way to get the remaining adhesive off when removing the patch is with some baby oil.  How are you feeling otherwise? x

I struggled too with the 2nd part of the backing. Many a time the patch either dropped off before I had a chance to stick it down on my skin, or as you described, stuck to my knickers.
I also felt I wasn't absorbing it, so because of that, and estradot 37.5 shortages in my area, I changed to evorel 50, which I had used in the past. The difference in size between the 2 types of patches is hilarious.
One too small, the other too large!!

Clarella, unfortunately I cannot apply it below my belly button as I have a big overhang on my belly from having 2 pregnancies so close, bum cheek is the only area I can put it.

Pippa52, great idea about the tweezers 😊 I will probably have to try that, I'm dreading next patch change lol !
I feel a bit low and deflated today, I have zero motivation to do anything. I hope I'm absorbing the estrogen. Will have to see what happens over the next few days 😐

I peel first half and stick it on the top of my butt cheek. Then using a finger to hold it in place I lift up a corner with another finger and hold it between that finger and thumb to peel off. I smooth the rest of the patch down as I peel - so all one handed   ;D

I do the same as Salad!

If you think it's difficult, try cutting a tiny 25 patch in half and sticking that down  ;D ;D ;D

My experience has been that stickiness varies between batches. Had 2 patches wash straight down the shower drain while residue from others required exfoliating.
The amount of estrogen being dispensed still feels unsteady to me. I have been using top inner thigh to minimise exposure to high water flow in the shower, compared with underarm; tummy or bum but not sure that sticking new patches in the same region is as effective.
As for the backing, the plastic is so electrostatic, they stick to my fingers rather than entering the rubbish bin & I find them all over the house.

Salad, I tried that, but for the life of me I could not get the other half off, pulled the lot off. Same happened with the following patch, it stuck on my nail !  I'm dreading 3rd patch change today lol 😆

I'm reserving my judgement on them at the moment Madamshome, I'm just not sure if I am absorbing them, I have had really bad insomnia on them 😞. I don't have issues with them falling off, they seem to stick well, I wash area with Simple soap first, dry then hold in place for 20 seconds. I was on Estraderm but had to switch to these as they were unavailable due to shortage. Mind you I felt symptoms returning on Estraderm too so maybe my natural estrogen has dropped to zero 😞

I've not heard that. They better not be   ;D

They are increasing supply and the shortage should be over this month.
