estrogen patches and progesterone
« on: June 21, 2022, 03:33:10 PM »

Hi,

I am about 4 years post meno, no problems at all until february of this year.

I started HRT (properly) on Friday, estradiol patches 25mg and progesterone every night.

Does anyone know if the patches or the progesterone's side effects are anxiety/depression.

I had no problems at all post meno until out of the blue I developed tinnitus in february, it has gone now, but I now have trouble getting to sleep, I slept like a baby before, and my anxiety and mood are still terrible.

I am hoping that being on HRT now, and with time things will get better.

I just wondered how other ladies were on the estradiol patches and the progesterone.

Thanks xx

For me the progesterone causes depression. I am totally fine on oestrogen. :)

Hi dee

Well what im thinking is that with progesterone i may have to give it time.

Is your anxiety a new symptom or is it a new symptom.  Have you thought about counselling for your anxiety.

How are you finding the magnesium xx

I tried provera, ultragestan, norehisterone, then 2 desogestrel daily. Each one gave me deep depression, suicidal thoughts, sadness. At my most recent menopause appointment, the Dr suggested trying 2 desogesteral on alternate days to see if I can get used to it slowly. I already take 1 a day and have done for many years. Sorry, I am of no help as I have not found one I can tolerate.

Its trial and error sometimes is'nt it.

And just talking about stuff on this forum helps.

Hope you find one you can tolerate.

Good luck x

Yes, I think it is. It is such a shame we need the progesterone when we find it difficult to tolerate. Thank you for your kind words. I hope you can find something too.  :)

Let me know how you get on dee on friday.

I do think low hormone levels are to blame for a lot.

Hi I am also having dreadful side effects on the Evo Continent patches just gone back on them recently but having to come off them due to severe depression. I think some people just can’t tolerate progesterone!!!! I tried all types last time and was dreadful, not sure what I am going to do now
