Evorel conti
« on: June 13, 2022, 10:40:54 AM »

Hi all

I’ve been going through peri symptoms on and of for a couple of years now, I’m 43. My symptoms are manageable, however as my mum now suffers from osteoporosis I thought I should act fast and see what preventative measures I could put in place.  Went to see the doctor and they said I could try the Evorel conti patches for three months.

I started these a couple of days ago and felt much worse then I ever did without them, my leg started to feel heavy, breasts tender bitter taste in mouth nausea and very emotional. So the next day I just peeled it off! Even after taking it of I feel I’ve made all my symptoms  much worse then they were, feeling so tired and I’m normally energetic!

Did I do the right thing or should I have persevered? My only fear is osteoporosis as my bone density is already low.

Thanks any advice welcome feeling confused 😕

Hi Twirly. I wondered the same as Dotty as to whether you are still having periods.

Hi, this is the med I've been prescribed to try as a first step, but I'm 52 and over a year period free. My doctor said it just topped up the main hormones that are lower than before, she didn't think I'd get a period, but I did. Then I stopped it for a week, I'm wearing one patch all week now insstead of two because it's a little strong for me. I'd imagine it's way too strong at your age.

Hi poppytoast. I've replied to your first New Member post but wanted to reassure you that unpredictable bleeding is common during the first six months of a conti HRT. It should state this in the information leaflet.  :)

I can't give any personal experience as I'm on my first Evorel Conti patch today (people are going to get sick of reading this, I've posted this few times today) but from what I have read and I've read a lot of information, the first few months can be tough and make some symptoms worse before they get better.  It is possible even without the patch you could have felt like this.

I'm having a very light bleed the last few days (first bleed for six months).  If I had started the patches this time last week, I would have blamed the patch for the bleeding but that would have been the wrong thing to do, if you see what I mean.

Hope this helps.

Thank you all.  I have not had a period for 5 months now.
Thinking I should have waited for the full 12 months before approaching my doc.

You did the right thing to ask your doctor but I feel that you should have been prescribed a sequi HRT as you are not post meno. This will give you a monthly withdrawal bleed (usually). It's important to give any HRT three months before you decide whether it is right for you. Side effects should lessen during this time. I began HRT while still having periods.

Hello 👋

I'm a few weeks in with this patch but still in first 12 weeks. A few side effects that have happened to me...

1. Boobs and nipples suddenly very painful within days. Still tender but not as much as in the beginning.

2. Very tired, achy and weak limbs (but have health conditions that mimic a lot of fatigue and weakness symptoms so this can't be relied upon, for me, as a HRT side effect).

3. Low grade headache. No migraine back as yet, thank the goddess.

4. Nausea on and off in beginning but short lived.

5. Dizziness on and off in second week but short lived.

6. Metallic taste in mouth (like when I used to have PMT but getting better).

Good Things List...because we like those -

No more hot flushes or palpitations. Gone!
Sex drive peeking through, just a tad (used to be high)
More balanced mood starting to happen.
Crying much less

Hope that helps some folk starting out. Hang in there, ladies! 💐
