Pop pill
« on: June 07, 2022, 11:27:05 AM »

I’m taking the pop pill for the progesterone element of my HRT.

Since I started I haven’t had a period? I thought I would get one to start with and then gradually it would reduce and the nothing.

Is it normal just to stop? I’m not moaning as this is great but I wasn’t sure if I should still prepare myself to still get one?!
Would be grateful to hear if someone else also had this experience.

Thank you 😊

What's a pop pill  :-\ in orthopaedics that would stand for Plaster of Paris  ::)

Hi which pop pill are you taking ? Just asking as there’s not enough progesterone in the pill to be used for HRT. x

Like Dotty says, you can't really take the POP pill as HRT progesterone.

You can take the POP alongside HRT if you need contraception or if you (like me) have endo and need to suppress your ovaries(!) but you can't take just the POP....you'd need a HRT progesterone as well.

There was one study where they had a small number of women and they used double the desogestrel POP dose and found it was effective - but because it was just a small study they can't recommend that yet as an option.
