I start northesterine tomorrow
« on: May 22, 2022, 06:05:05 AM »

I'm going through a very bad anxious stage, which I usually get during my ovulation period. I've only now started everol sequi patches so maybe too early for any positive side effects on calming my anxiety.
Tomorrow i start the conti patch for two weeks & I'm absolutely dreading it. I've read that the northesterine causes anxiety & low mood & to get worse than what I'm feeling now, terrifies me.
I keep telling myself why would my gynae give me something that would make me worse?
If i felt i couldn't cope on the conti patch, can i just take it off wothout doing anything wrong to my uterus lining?
I understand your not Drs but any advice is welcome. I'm seeing my gynae on 16th june if things go wrong.
Thank you.

Hi Sheri - it depends where you are in menopause and how what your natural periods/cycle are doing? When you started HRT and why?

If you are taking extra oestrogen then yes you need a progestogen to protect the womb.

Norethisterone does not necessarily cause anxiety and low mood - but if you think it will then it definitely will! Try to approach with a positive frame of mind - that the HRT will help make you feel better (hopefully!).

Taking off the conti patch most probably won't hurt for one cycle but you would then need to find something else if you want to continue with oestrogen replacement. Also it is generally recommended to try HRT for 3 months ( in your case, 3 cycles) to see if it suits?

Good luck!

It's only a few who have a bad reaction to the conti patches, the vast majority are perfectly OK. My main symptoms were anxiety and insomnia. It took 3 months on evorel sequi for them to go completely but I was no different on the conti patches.

Thank you both.
I remember a few yrs back, my gynae put me of Tibolone & used a Depo injection to stop my periods as i suffer with menhoraggia. Whilst i was in the Tibolone i felt blooming great mentally & even physically. No anxiety,  loads of energy...even for me who was at the time on the heart/lung transplant list..but unfortunately my Transplant team wanted me off Tibolone.
So I'm hoping everol sequi will give me the same feeling as the Tibolone did.
I will put patch on tomorrow & get out of house & try to forget which one I'm using & hope things stay calm.
