Bloating
« on: May 17, 2022, 02:09:24 PM »

Hi everyone.
I'm on week 2 of everol sequi 50 patches & since Sunday i have been terribly bloated. Its quite painful & uncomfortable.
I'm also going through my ovulation time (not sure i still get that on HRT).
Do these patches cause bloating & does it ease as time goes on?
I really don't want to look like a anaconda who has swallowed a capybara for ever & a day.
Thank you.

Hi Sheri. Yes bloating is common when starting HRT and yes it generally does ease over time x

Hi Sherri,
I'm on day 11 of everol sequi 50 and had terrible bloating for the first week or so,seems to be settling down a bit now, saying that I've also had a random period so I usually de bloat after that anyway.
I haven't had the everol conti patch yet either and really hoping I don't get awful PMT on it!!
Good luck and keep us posted how you get on.

I’m on Evorel and I also get bloating, I’m 8 months in and it’s the last main symptom, along with burping I get with it that’s recently turned into palpitations! I did find that apple cider vinegar in water helped the bloating and burping a lot. I was hoping the bloating would get better  by now though and am disappointed it hasn’t done so on its own. It happens the same time as you, when I take Utrogestan / am ovulating and am discussing with my doctor about adding a bit more estrogen at that time to help. Will be giving it another month to settle first. Are you taking Utrogestan? Good luck! Let us know how you get on.

I'm going to be on northesterine, which I'm really anxious about starting as I've heard it can make anxiety worse - & i really don't need that atm. It was the main reason why i went on HRT, to help ease anxiety.
Is it just apple cider mixed in with water? I actually just bought some apple cider for a recipe I'm doing,  so have plenty spare.

Hi, yes I read it was 2 tablespoons per glass of water but I found it too strong so I do 1 tablespoon in water about 30 mins before any food. Try not to drink when eating also and chew your food really really well. While the cause may be hormonal, all these little things can help ease it quickly in my experience. I’m a real foodie and hate feeling uncomfortable while eating or from eating. Hope some of this helps you! Totally get it. I’m asthmatic and it’s so hard to know when it’s asthma or when it’s this sort of thing or once I was low in stored iron and I got breathlessness too. My allergies also can cause that.  It can be very confusing.

During the 1990s I used to get really, really sickening bloating but can't remember at which point of my cycle.  By mid-afternoon I was unable to keep the zip of my skirt done up ........ and felt really ill until a bleed began - I think  :-\.

In later years I was diagnosed with IBS as my whole digestive system shut down due to being anorexic.  The spasm simply forgot how to work = bloating.  I can sympathise but am not good at offering advice as to how to get rid of it.  Does it seem cyclical?

That's the thing, i havent bloated this much for ages so was wondering if estrogen was making it worse.
I eat very healthy anyway,  ie, no refined sugar,  cakes, crisps etc but i eat alot of fruit - which is actually making it worse so I've stopped fruit for abit.
I'm also anaemic & on Ferrous Sulphate. My ferrin was 5 at last blood test so if it doesn't come up soon, I'll be having iron infusion.
I have cystic fibrosis, asthma, osteoporosis & I'm diabetic so i agree with the confusing part ☺.
I have a night out with friend's Friday for food & the dress i opted to wear is very uncomfortable with my bloated belly so i need to rethink my options.
CLKD - my friend has IBS & its no fun for her. She has to be so careful on what she eats.

I really think it is the estrogen- too little… I eat super healthy too, still happens. I suffered low ferritin over these years and it was my thyroid condition causing it. Have you had that checked?

ATB - my low iron is due to menorrhagia for years & i suffer with hemoptysis (chronic lung bleeds). I take trans acid during period & when i have lung bleed but being CF, my body doesn't absorb vitamins/food very well. So its more maintenance dose now to try & stop iron dropping.
The iron Infusion gives me a few months of higher levels, so think Drs will be doing one again soon.
I don't people who have never been anaemic realise how tiring it is & how it affects your breathing.

Oh I’m sorry, I totally understand. I couldn’t get my ferritin up either because of my thyroid problems so I had the issue for ages. It’s totally exhausting. I was bedridden 3 months. It just sucks. I had two infusions and actually didn’t feel much better from them. It wasn’t until having both my thyroid treated and well plus HRT that I’ve had a decent level, and it’s still not wonderful. My husband eats the same and his is 110! At one point mine was 7. I did also take lysine and vitamin C which had it up at around 20. But you have my total sympathy because your situation sounds harder. I hope it gets better and real soon.

?? CF ??  :-\

My GP gave me appropriate medication for the IBS which saved my life.  It took 3-4 weeks B4 I began to trust that I was getting better and I've kept to a 3 hourly eating pattern since to make sure that my gut isn't empty.  Or anxiety surges.

I haven't worked out what causes my bloating these days other than not enough veg. in my evening meals ..... but it takes a few days for the symptoms to begin and another 48 hours to realise ..........  ::).  Sometimes I am so bloated that I am unable to eat for over 10 hours then it's toast with marmalade.  Also, in the last 4 years if I drink tea after about 1.30 p.m., I get bloated.  As a complete aside, my taste buds also alter ........  :-\ so tea tastes foul !

I have to eat 3 hourly too!! Otherwise I get acid reflux. Bloating is so annoying it’s crazy how many of us get it.
