Hi all,
Just a quickie!
Getting the Mirena fitted in just under 3 weeks now  ( was going to be next week but busy at work )

Do I need to take any kind of progesterone from now until then?
Reason I ask is, utrogestan doesn’t control my bleeding, therefore useless.

I don’t want to switch progesterone tablet etc for 3 weeks.

Will I be okay, or should I carry on taking utrogestan anyway?

Hi Nas. I wouldn’t have thought 3 weeks would make much of a difference and you certainly don’t need the hassle of yet another interim progesterone to try. If you were on a sequi regime you’d be doing two weeks with no progesterone anyway. I expect the Mirena will quickly sort out any built up lining anyway. Although if you check with your meno specialist I’m sure they’ll prob say keep taking the progesterone until your Mirena is fitted! I think since you’ve lowered the dose of your patch as well you are less likely to get a lot of build up. However, if you don’t actually get any adverse side effects from the progesterone other than it not controlling your bleeding of course, maybe better to keep on it just to be safe X

Well, doubt 3 weeks is going to hurt, plus as you say, the mirena ought to sort any thickening out.

Utrogesten doesn’t make me feel anything really, not sleepy, not irritable and neither does it do it’s job. It’s just ‘ a tablet ‘

Mmm.. feeling rather rubbish today. Quite low and flat.
Wondering if progesterone keeps the mood stable or is it the drop in Oestrogen, having gone from 75 to 50 patch? God only knows!

Could quite possibly be the drop in estrogen.....but if you've discontinued the progesterone it could also be progesterone withdrawal symptoms. not unlike PMS.  :-/
