Eczema on vulva
« on: May 11, 2022, 12:55:05 PM »

In my early 20's a dermatologist diagnosed me with eczema on my vulva. I cannot remember what cream was given to me. It has suddenly returned and I was wondering what others use? I have Betnovate ointment. I just put a bit on the skin and it already feels like it has soothed the skin.

I do know I should tell my GP but I just wanted to ask others as contacting my GP is a major stress and I will not get an appointment for a few weeks.

I had this in my thirties and it disappeared a few years ago and is now back, with a vengeance. I use dermovate occasionally. But need to find an emollient.

Thank you for replying. I am sorry you have it too. It is very painful.

Hi
I don't have eczema but I do have problems with extreme vulva itching at times. I visited GP 4 months ago to ask for HRT (age 59, 9+yrs post menopausal, been using vagifem for about 8yrs for VA) , GP looked at my girly bits to make sure nothing wrong before giving me Oestrogel and Utrogestan. She also gave me Betnovate to help with the itching - it worked immediately, I only used it for a couple of days and now my problem seems to be helped by the estrogen. I just use the betnovate occasionally now, if the itching comes back.  So not the same problem as you but just to let us know that Betnovate is OK for girly bits  :)

Oh thank you! That is very helpful. I am glad the betnovate helps with the itching for you.

Is betnovate on prescription or over counter? I've bought cetraben today.

It is prescription only. I see the online pharmacy sell it.

I use Cetraben instead of soap, very soothing. I also use Dermovate but its perscription only, I suffer with lichens sclerosus flare ups occasionally and this stuff sorts it out very quickly.
