Ovestin Cream
« on: April 27, 2022, 03:06:52 PM »

Hi all
I have been on Vagifem with Replens or Yes VM  for around 3yrs with no relief 😞
Went to see a lovely understand gynaecologist last week who said I had  Dyspareunia as well as VA. He has prescribed me Ovestin cream, once a night for 3 months, then to see him to reduce it to twice a week.
Reading all the info about it, its not usually used for this amount of time every night. Is anyone else using it for this long for the loading? He did say I was extremely lacking in any hormones up there  :-\
Fingers crossed this works!
TIA xxx

It don't matter, one uses VA treatment for as long as is necessary.  Guidelines suggest that ladies can cope with every 3rd/5th/7th day  >:(  ::). It is totally up to you.

What's Dyspareunia?   As for Replens, BIN IT.   ;)

I slar some 'ovestin' around the outer vaginal area too .  Keeping everything supple stops the itching. If I get the need2P feelings I take 'nurofen' regularly.

You obviously have a bad case of it and sorry the vagifem hasn’t worked for you, how annoying!
Use the ovestin every night as you definitely need it and hopefully it will work for you. After three months you will know if it’s working or not.

A lot of women on here us it daily so I wouldn’t worry about how much you are using, you obviously need it.

Thanks both, I just thought that everyday for 3 months to start was too often.
He's hoping it can be reduced after I've seen him in 3 months time x

I have been using ovestin every day for 5 months. Sometimes I have to use it twice a day too. I am so sorry you are suffering so badly with your symptoms.

I wouldn't consider reducing if symptoms aggravate, the way to find out is to stop for 3/4 nights then insert a dose.  Any symptoms, start right back!  Sometimes it has to be nightly for years.

I'm currently on the daily vagifem/Ovestin regime like you and, if it does its job, will have no hesitation continuing daily if necessary.

Hope you see some improvement soon

Thanks for the reassurance everyone.
I read that you should have a break after a while on it, but if it works, I'd be reluctant too  ;D

Don't even dream of having a break from it  ;D. I don't know why they ever used to say that, but we all know what would happen, it would mean going back to square one and finding it even harder to get under control again  >:(

Ovestin is totally fine to use every night for months if needed. VA symptoms are notoriously undertreated so we’ll done for having a doctor who actually wants to help you get on top of the problem by using a proper and appropriate amount of ovestin for a reasonable time frame. It can take many months to manage these symptoms so please don’t worry about taking it every day. Just an additional point, Replens causes many ladies (me included) stinging and general irritation. You might be fine with it but I’d suggest avoiding using this so as not to confuse your VA symptoms with irritation from Replens. Sylk and Yes products are known to be better with far fewer irritating ingredients. X
