Oh god, that's awful. So much is thrown at us!!!

I'm about to get a sinus op, but it's taken that long, that I've had plenty time to work out that my sinus issues seem to flair with my soddin hornones!!!

Are u at a private clinic for your hrt? As much as I'd like to love the nhs, they've been downright useless to me with all this!

Yes, with Newson Health although I literally just got my new female GP to take over the estrogen and Utrogestan part, I’ll still be going to Newson for overall menopause consults and the testosterone.

Oh I also have sinus issues related to this!! It’s a crazy ride

It sure is. Good call to get the GP to prescribe 👍 if I ever find anything to work, I'll do the same.

Hi Crispychick

There is a long discussion on this thread in private lives about T and also where I described the benefits to me:
https://www.menopausematters.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,27959.0.html

I've been taking it for 7 years (since May 2015)

Thanks Hurdity.

I'll take a look.

I specifically wanted to tease out calmness and happy mood - since those were both things I felt, but I didn't know if it was test or dhea which was responsible!

Are you calm and happy?? 😁

Sorry, further question.

I still don't understand what happens when your levels increase??? As you've been on it 7 years Hurdity, do they just stabalise, rather than continue to increase???

I'm quite excited by the Testosterone revelation. Maybe I could sack the awful prog trials off... And just take test  ;D

God wouldn’t it be a revelation if stand alone testosterone replacement fixed most if not all things! I wonder how that would be met by the medical world   :D
I’ve found that on testim I am energised and able to organise myself and actually get things done because before I was queen of brain fog and procrastination. Physically I can exercise as I used to. Libido is lurking but I don’t get much opportunity these days due to teenagers also lurking  ;D too much around the house.
I find it frustrating that most GPs won’t entertain it let alone give you a prescription yet I’m willing to bet most women would benefit hugely from a little.
Hope your quest goes well Crispy chick xx

Thanks Louise.

Brain fog?!!! Geez, I'm queen of that at the moment.

OK, this is all sounding positive for me to have a retrial of Testosterone, without the DHEA this time.

I'm not going to rush. I'm still plodding along on my prog trials. I want to try and stabalise on that first. Throwing all 3 hormones in at the beginning of the year (prog, test and dhea) simply left me clueless as to what was causing what.

Slow and steady this time. Collecting all my info. Thanks ladies x

Reading all these success stories  about testosterone  is amazing  and heartwarming! Can l ask the older ladies here if you had to go private to get yours prescribed? Although l have  been on hrt successfully for many years my G.P will not consider testosterone. I did ask to be referred to a meno clinic but somehow my referral got triaged to  the gynacology dept of my local hospital where l was told there was no meno specialist. I Would love to try tesosterone  for all the reasons mentioned here but do l need to go private? Any advice much appreciated!

Hi ATB
My success has been exactly like yours xx
I have been on (and off) Androfeme since November as well.
My exercise regime is back to what it was prior to peri menopause (lightness  and easiness)
I don’t use it every day, as I feel it’s too much for me and starts to cause me effects I don’t like.

I think that I am super sensitive to HRT medications (I have tried a few so far)

At this stage I am not combining the testosterone with anything else (my choice) and I am loving the results.
I’m not stupid, and would come straight off it, if I was told that I had to combine it with something else
(before starting Androfeme I consulted the company that manufactures it by phone and email, and I was assured that it was okay to use it on its own)

For ladies that are thinking of trying testosterone; Androfeme and testogel are basically very similar.
They both have the same testosterone ingredients but Androfeme has added vitamin E creams , and testogel has added alcohol components (MOO xx ) so purchase which ever one you can xx

Hi Justyna, could I ask what the side effects were that you didn't like?

Good morning Gnatty x
Of course you can ask x

Since taking testosterone ( these are the affects that I’m NOT happy with )
* I get a warm flush after eating or drinking (I have never had a flush before this, and my husband started using testosterone as well and also experiences a warm flush after eating or drinking)
* if I take it more than 3 days in a row, I start to feel like I am retaining my fluids, like i am puffing out ( in my fingers, and legs)
* when I first started testosterone I developed a stingy vagina (just at the opening) but that seems to have disappeared.
* also my vagina feels fatter inside (I know this might be a good thing but I have to get used to it)

This is why I only take it every second day or two days on, one day off (for now, but I will be happy to change it up in the future)

So far taking testosterone has worked for me
And my husband has followed my lead and I couldn’t be happier with his change ( tbh I was considering separating because we have been married for 30 years and I was getting really upset with his lack of care towards me; now he is finding the joy in me again …… but this forum is not about him it’s about us women xx)

That’s really interesting Justyna, especially about the stingy vagina just at the opening.
That’s maybe what I’ve got and I’ve been thinking it’s an infection of some sort but no evidence that it is.
I wonder if testosterone makes our vagina ph more acidic? Which on the whole is a good thing for it to be but not too much!

I was given a combined Testosterone (1mg) and DHEA cream. I upped to 2mg Testosterone. After 8 weeks I stopped it as I wasn't feeling right, but I was benefitting from feeling incredibly calm and happy.

Did your GP prescibe this combined cream? I'd love to try it, as I know my DHEA is very low and has been for decades
