Thickened womb lining
« on: April 24, 2022, 05:14:16 PM »

Hi
I’m looking for some advice / reassurance please … I’ve been on Evorel conti since November and have been having regular ( though small ) bleeds for the last few months. I was referred for a scan which showed thickening of my lining ( 5.5mm) and have now been referred for a biopsy .
My health anxiety is kicking in and im now fearing all sorts !!!

Try not to worry. Bleeding for the first six months on a conti HRT is considered one of the normal side effects. It should mention this in the information leaflet. A measurement of 5.5 is only just over the recommended limit so your gynae is being cautious. Do you know if your thickening is uniform or in one place?

You will get lots of help and advice on here.

Were you meno (1 year without a bleed) before you started? If not a sequi regime may be more appropriate.

Hi, not quite the same as I have never been on any medication. After being period free for 13 months in 2019 I started to bleed, I had a scan which showed the lining was 18mm thick so they removed it & biopsies were normal. Then after that I was period free for 2 years & in February of this year I started to bleed again, once again fast tracked for a scan which showed a thickening of 15mm so it was removed biopsies taken once again they were normal. Try not to worry as I was told there can be hormones still a little active & so this can make a thickening. Good luck x

I'd love it if my womb lining was 5.5 mm!

Mine was 10 mm on last measurement shortly after my bleed and I reported to doc (I said this on another thread) and asked for norethisterone to thin it by sending a message to the practice phramacy. They prescribed this without even asking to see me nor suggesting I was scanned to check it had thinned! I feel most ignored!

I really dont know why they have fast tracked you if you;ve only been taking it since November as Taz says - this is quite normal, to bleed - though if these bleeds persisted then it would be good to have a scan.

Some women never settle on conti HRT and swap to sequi HRT for this reason, even when post-meno.

Really try not to worry!!! Hopefully all will be well - and do let us know :)
