Surgery consistently declining repeat prescriptions.
« on: April 13, 2022, 06:30:47 PM »

Evening, ladies.
I am ready to combust. I am finding my surgery consistently declining my HRT repeat prescription requests. It's so stressful! How can I make progress with my health (and stoically doing all I can to do so!) with this constant battle depleting my diminished resources? I'm now up to the wire with my Lenzetto and no way will the prescription be turned around and processed in three days. It takes a lot to rile me, but I want to expose what feels like intentional sabotaging of my health! I have complained to the Practice Manager and my NHS specialist today, but this is disgraceful "practice" and enough is enough!

Why are they declining? Are you due for a review or something? You can get an emergency prescription pushed through if necessary

A few thoughts…
Write to your SMP
Write a letter to the senior partner setting out your concerns, saying that they are causing you harm

Any other idea’s folks!

So sorry to hear this but the only way out is to get MAD not SAD I feel! xx

? Change your Surgery ?  Is there a pharmacist on site to talk to, our Practice employs one in the surgery.

Well, I have been awake since 4.30. I'm not due a review. The prescription is for two sprays daily at 56 sprays in the container for three months. One container therefore lasts 28 days. They seem to think one container lasts three months. I have written to the Independent Pharmacy in case I need to order. I have e-mailed the Practice Manager to back up the letter I dropped off in person yesterday and I spoke with the NHS menopause specialist last night who was going to raise the issue again with the practice. I'm not aware of any emergency prescription facility, but have requested an urgency in my e-mail. Is it ignorance, defiance, negligence, what? There is never any explanation provided for the decline. It just comes up under the repeat prescription requests that the gp has declined this order. Changing practices not an option as catchment areas are obligatory here and I would not be accepted outwith. Today gonna be a write-off! 😢

I’m so sorry you have this most awful stress from all of this Postmeno3.
My suggestion would be that you need to speak to the GP who has declined the repeat order. Would this be possible today do you think? x

Which pharmacy usually supplies your medication? Is it worth asking them to query it with the Practice ?

From what I can determine, it's a different doctor each time doing the declining. So that this is in full awareness, I have recorded this in my letter to the Practice Manager, flagging up the absence of overview and continuity. In my e-mail to her in the middle of the night, I asked which doctor had declined, what recent menopause training had they undertaken and what was their understanding of the impact of breaking the continuity of medication  meant to be continuous. The last time I had medication refused, a receptionist phoned to tell me it had been declined. I asked her who declined it and was told. It was an individual I've never met, has had no involvement in my menopausal journey whatsoever, but who TRAINS gps!!!!! I asked the PM last time if the gp referring me to the NHS specialist could be the point of reference but was told that a meeting had been held with "staff", including this gp, but it was felt my request was not appropriate as "all" gps are "well versed and capable". So, I'll see what today brings, but have ordered a spray from the Oxford Pharmacy meantime and await the consultation  approval. It's just dire, isn't it?!

Oh Postmeno, i feel your pain!

I had this with oestrogel a couple of years ago.
The surgery seemed adamant that one bottle, containing 64 pumps, x 3 a day was also going to last 3 months!!

In the end, I rang the prescriptions team whilst shopping in Asda, in tears, begging for the 3 bottles! She put me on hold, spoke to a GP and it was agreed.

You will get your gel! X
