Hello looking for advice on bleeds
« on: April 03, 2022, 12:44:49 PM »

Hello everyone.  I'm just after a bit of advice from people on Evorel Sequi. I'm almost 54. Have not had a real period since Jan 2021 and started on Evorel sequi 7.5 months ago (on 6th patch of 8th pack)

After 4 months, I added one pump a day of oestrogen gel due to zero improvement in libido but great improvements to other symptoms especially anxiety and flushes. This hasn't helped.

I've had tiny smears of blood in very clear mucus just a couple of times since starting patches. But on the final patch of pack 6, I started bleeding. I'd been feeling quite down for a couple of weeks too.

I discussed this with my menopause nurse who took me off the gel to see if that would help. It hasn't and overall I feel worse without it - more anxiety.

Now on the 6th patch of my 8th box, I'm.bleeding again.  It only started this morning, but is not bright red, more dark brown  I was feeling really low again yesterday.

I thought withdrawal bleed was meant to happen after the end of the last patch of each pack and I'm confused as to why the timing is so out. Should I be worried? Also - libido - has anyone found anything that helps?

Thank you 😊  x

Hi! welcome.

I can't help with HRT but didn't want to fly by and now >wave< .

It may be that your hormones are joining in, or it may be that the regime isn't strong enough yet to encourage a proper bleed, hence the dark spotting.

Anxiety can be hormonal, however if it's really bothersome mayB consider Propranolol (BBlocka) or an anti-anxiety medication.

Testosterone for libido, you'll probably need a referral to a meno clinic to get it.
I've found my own cycle is always stronger than the hrt cycle so most likely just your own hormones.

I'm also having dark brown blood most days. Age 54, normal ( heavy) periods till about 5 months ago. It also stings when it is dark brown ( doesn't when I have a proper red period) . I am taking uterogestan to try to stop the bleeding but it doesnt seem to be working. I did have some dark brown blood like this in my 20's when very stressed but havent had it since then. I have this brown spotting, though to be honest I'd call it more than spotting - probably about 2 tablespoons per day.

Strictly speaking, any unscheduled bleeding that occurs after the first 6 months on hormone therapy should be investigated.

Your provider may be happy to watch and wait for a couple of cycles depending on age/other risk factors for endometrial hyperplasia.

Regarding libido, estrogen will only increase your opportunity for sex by making you better looking and nicer to be around. It will do nothing for your desire or interest in sex - this is much more likely to respond to testosterone (other factors can also be involved however).
