Hello!
A newbie here! I'm almost 43 and having symptoms I'm worried about so please bear with me...its a bit of a story!
My periods have always been regular but painful...much more so in last year.
In January I had a normal period. But at the end I began to have a pain in my lower left side...it was very much like ovulation pain. It went away for a few days towards the end of my cycle. Then when my Feb period was due the pain was back and almost unbearable at one point (almost called an ambulance). 2 painful days later my period started. One day in the pain went and the bleeding became crazy heavy...for 12 hours. I called 111 and had to wait for a GP to call back. By the time one did, it had all calmed.
But after the period, the left pain came back. Sometimes pain, sometimes just tightness/discomfort but there almost every day. It went again for a few days before my next period, which, although painful, was normal.
But lo and behold. The pain or discomfort is back again...everyday...somedays very mild...some days needing a painkiller
I got to see my GP face to face last week finally. She did an examination and couldn't feel any problems but is sending me for a USS to be sure. She said, because I was freaking out, it is VERY unlikely to be anything serious.
She also put me on desogestrel and I already had naproxen for pain after the disastrous Feb period!
My hubby's cousin is a GP who thinks it's all perimenopausal (although agrees a scan is a good idea) and she said within a cycle or so the abdominal pain and discomfort situation should be settled by the desogestral.
I'm 7 days in to the desogestrel and still having the pain or discomfort. It's really driving me nuts. Weirdly I feel much better in myself. My emotions seem more in check, I'm more productive. But the abdominal problem is still causing me to worry.
I guess I just wondered if anyone else has had anything like this...and maybe a little reassurance!
Thanks for reading!
