sertraline experiences
« on: March 24, 2022, 09:15:33 AM »

Hi

As i have been on 50mg of Sertraline for 7 weeks, and recently moved to 100mg 6 days ago for really bad social anxiety - maybe linked to Peri?? Still unsure if this is peri or Psychiatric from that flat move back in June. However...i wondered if anyone had any experience of increasing doses? if it worked and at what dose/how long each dose takes before increasing again?

Thanks

Love vicky xx

Hi Vicky,
I can see you're finding things very difficult just now. I'm afraid I don't feel comfortable or confident with telling people about medications and their dosages, efficacy etc as I just feel very strongly that it's such a unique thing, it's not my place if that makes sense? Maybe someone will want to offer suggestions and come along, but you might be wiser and safer to talk to a gp or pharmacist? Good luck! 🤞

Sorry I don’t know about sertraline specifically but the advice is that you need 4 weeks possibly 6 for any change in antidepressant to reach maximum effect.

I think what you need to remember with any drug or HRT, is that it affects  people so differently. What works for one, doesn’t necessarily for the next.

Your social anxiety maybe be completely unlinked to hormones.
My advice is to face it head on, in small manageable steps.
People can change as they age too.

There isn’t going to be a ‘ cure’ for this anxiety. It’s how you manage it at the end of the day and HRT isn’t an exact science either ( as I’ve found out!)

Hi before I started them I was terrible and didn’t leave the house for a year, well only to go to the drs or chemist

My life has changed with sertraline I no longer have panic attacks and even performed Infront of 100 people, there’s no way I would of done that without sertraline

I still don’t go out much but I’m a home bird anyway

It lifted quite quickly after I went from 50mg to 200mg

I have lowered it to 100mg on occasions when I feel better

Hi hun!!
Omg thanks so much for your message....that's given me hope!

Your anxiety sounds like mine is now.

So how long did it take to feel so much better after you were on 200mg? Like from when you first started the 200mgs? Xx
