Prolapse ?
« on: February 21, 2022, 10:46:31 PM »

So went to gp surgery today to a follow up appointment after receiving vegifem in an over the phone telephone consultation because I was having problems with what I thought was VA

Anyway I went today, it was a well woman clinic, when I walked in she said
What can I do for you, as I abut taken back as I thought she would know !
Anyway I explained what I was suffering with about a month ago and was given vegifem.
When I finished talking she said
Prolapse! It could be uterus, bladder or bowel

I was a bit taken back as she never even examined me ? Surely you’d do this before telling a lady that?

Told me to do pelvic floor exercises and carry on with vegifem and come back if any change

I’ve lost a but of faith in her if she can diagnose without examining me

I had this with the practice prescribing nurse.

She said my bladder issues might be prolapse following posterior repair operation, which rather put the wind up me.  My bladder issues are strongly hormonal and have been for years prior to menopause.

The urogynaecologist I saw had said there was no anterior prolapse. I know that sometimes an anterior prolapse can be masked by posterior prolapse and become apparent post surgery but it was actually fairly minimal - I just wanted it repaired and the insurance paid.   TBH I think there probably is mild prolapse but not to the extent that surgery would be the best option.  I get the impression that bladder prolapse surgery is the one with all the tapes and it is better to do physio unless it is really bad.

I would be asking to see a physio who does gynae work.  You need some sort of assessment really rather than just blindly doing 'pelvic floor exercises'  A lot can be done with a good physio.
