Shortage of Evorel Conti
« on: February 07, 2022, 03:05:14 PM »

I have just been to collect my prescription for Evorel Conti and have been told there is a national shortage of Evorel Conti and they can't get it. Can anyone suggest anything else? I'm a bit wary of using utrogestan again as I bled really heavily when I used it for 3 months. My GPs not very knowledgeable unfortunately. All suggestions appreciated.

The pharmacy is an independent one and they said they can't get any anywhere.

That happened to me too. The pharmacist suggested I request Estraderm instead. I hope you can get that sorted out. I requested it and have to wait to get an appointment.

Hi Flosseteacake

The dr has just suggested femseven conti if it's available or to try utrogestan and estrogel again. She seemed to think that just because I bled heavily to start with I wouldn't necessarily again.
Which progesterone are you using with the estraderm?

I have had a lot of difficulties with the progesterone. I spoke to a menopause DR who has suggested I take 2 destrogel a day as I am on 1 a day already and have not had any side effects. He also prescribed Evorel 25 to start with. I am sorry as I know that is of no help to you.

That's interesting, I haven't heard of that combination before. Its good that you're not having any side effects. I felt very doped up and drowsy on the utrogestan but the dr said this was very unusual which surprised me. I thought she was implying that it was me not the utrogestan. I should have directed her to this forum! I'm a bit worried about bleeding starting with a change of regime and feeling rubbish again.

I also had not heard of that combination. I am not even sure I can tolerate it yet as I am still waiting to get the patches from the GP. I too felt drowsy on ultrogestan. I notice GPs often say side effects are unusual but if you read the leaflet the medication comes with, there are long lists! I can understand your concerns. It is hard when starting new HRT. I really hope this works for you.

It should be available which is worrying if you can't find it anywhere https://thebms.org.uk/2022/01/british-menopause-society-further-update-on-hrt-supply-shortages-20-january-2022/

Thanks for the link. It's a bit strange that it says its fully available.

I wonder if it's a regional shortage - I'm in the North.

Maybe. It's always worth phoning other pharmacies as even if there is a delay in deliveries some may have stock left.
