Can anyone help me…
« on: February 07, 2022, 11:55:24 AM »

Hello.

I’m 45 and been on hrt for 1 year.
Started on femeston 1/10 and that was good after 6 months was up to 2/10 die to a return  of my symptoms. Another. 6 months and  my symptoms are back.

I’m not feeling good at all and have Esp when I’m on the progesterone.
My mood is VERY low and my brain fog is worst I ever had. Vaginal dryness, sweating, anxiety, burning mouth, the brain fog Iv never had this bad…
I was up all night Saturday with heart palps
Im Making lots of mistakes and can’t concentrate on anything. Constant crying and just feel like I’m permenantly due on my period.

The week before I bleed I’m a complete mess, I can’t function at all.
My local surgery now operating an econsult instead of seeing a doctor and all I got was told to research the different types of hrt and let them know how I want to proceed. Also saying anything over that eg testosterone is outside of their expertise and I would need to see a specialist.
I sat all weekend looking up the hrt types but i have no idea what the hell is going to be better for me..
How am I meant to know? And was hoping for help from the doctor but instead was just fobbed off

Can anyone offer advice that gives me hope?

Well you're in the right place  :welcomemm:

If you have vaginal dryness, do read the vaginal atrophy thread on the Forum and get treatment - ring the Surgery and ask for 'vagifem', delivered by pessary, or 'ovestin' delivered by an applicator - I get on well with the latter. The idea is to insert every night for 2-3 weeks then 'as necessary', some find that every 3rd and 6th night enough: some require every night to keep the area plumped up !

As oestrogen levels drop off the body may become dry: inside and out, deep in the ears, skin, vagina, eyes ; muscles may become lax = aches and pains. It's The Change, does what it says on the tin  ::)

Some find that keeping a mood/food/symptom diary useful to chart progress.  As for testosterone, it is 'off licence' for women so seeing a menopause specialist: not a gynaecologist: will give you an over all view as to what may be helpful for your symptoms.  I would ask your Surgery to refer you to a Specialist Clinic ASAP as there are waiting lists.

GPs don't know a lot about menopause.  If you find a good one, hang onto him/her  ;).  Browse round, make notes.  Ask away!
