Age 54 had ablation in April 2019 and removal of fibroid no bleeding apart from May 2021 when came off short use of evorel conti went gynecology had scan blood test and hysteroscopy results all clear but found ovarian cyst re scan October 2021 cyst gone last couple of weeks sore nipple egg white discharge like ovulation and this morning a bleed my heads in bits cant stop googling anyone else with similar experiences

How heavy is the bleeding, like a period?  We need to be 12-14 months after the last bleed B4 we can consider being through peri-menopause.  The last period = menopause but it can be difficult to be sure.  My periods waxed and waned for several years .......

You probably need to begin counting again

Hi Susan99. You've come to the right place for understanding and advice.

You are considered post menopausal when you have gone one year without periods. Any bleeding after a year without needs to be reported to the GP for investigation. As your last bleed was May 2021 then as CLKD says you need to begin counting the months again. Lots of us have had long gaps between periods. I had a nine month gap twice before I started HRT at age 53. When on HRT you don't know when you are post meno due to the induced bleeds caused by progesterone withdrawal each month.

Thank you for your replies ladies its a grey area for me with having had the ablation and no periods that is why I got sent to gynecology last year 2021 the radiographer said my ovaries and womb suggested I had been through menopause hence tge panic/anxiety 😪

So if you have an unexpected bleed, mayB ring your Practice Nurse for advice?  To put your mind at rest.

The fact that you had ovulation type discharge and sore nipples before the bleeding is good. Often the ovaries give a few last pushes. Although the radiographer felt you had been through menopause this is never exact. It will be good to put your mind at rest but please don't worry if you are referred for a scan under the 'within two weeks' fast track. This is because the guidelines state this must happen and not that they are sure something's wrong.

No harm in getting checked out but do try not to worry. If it felt like a period usually that's exactly what it is.
