Is 6 weeks long enough?
« on: February 03, 2022, 10:48:37 AM »

I started on 25mcg estradot patches and 100mg cyclogest 6 weeks ago, nothing changed at all after a month, so I tried 50mcg, then 75. All I've got is a few teenage pimples - my understanding is they're from dipping oestrogen levels or higher progesterone.
Surely I should be seeing some kind of improvement? I'm still up & down like a yoyo every night with the damn multi-flushes, and the psychological aspects are no different. 😢

Morning.  It can take a little longer than 6 weeks as the body adjusts to extra/less hormonal input.

The psychological issues may ease with HRT.  I may have suggested that you keep a mood/food/symptom diary?

Hi, yes I'm keeping a diary.
I know it can take a while, but I keep reading and hearing about all those ladies who have had results really quickly.
I thought the 75mcg might be a decent loading dose to work from - I know nobody does loading doses of oestrogen, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.
And I'm not the most patient, lol, but after 3+ years of vile symptoms, this is my only hope of clawing back some 'me'. 🙁

I think you might need to wait a little longer.

I changed my HRT regime just after Christmas and my HRT doc isn't going to check my bloods until early March at the earliest. I've had to tamper with patch doses quite a bit recently as I've had bad symptoms so I feel your frustration. I'm having to wait 10-12 weeks at least for another assessment. It's not easy because one feels so crap and sometimes it feels as if it isn't working, but the only way to be sure is to sit tight for a bit.  GAH!

Each one is different.  It depends on how slowly/suddenly the oestrogen levels drop off.  4 me it was over a few years, periods waxed and waned.  I would get breaks of months, then another bleed.   ::)

Applejack, my GP is way out of her depth, and hasn't spoken to me at all. It's all a bit convoluted anyway.. then out the blue I get a hospital appointment - that was probably a reaction to my last message of "I have a lot of questions." 😄

CLKD I wasn't quite that erratic, but when it eventually dropped, I noticed.. 😣

Tuplip, my sympathies - I found an excellent GP when I was going through peri menopause and then she took early retirement. I had very unsympathetic ones after that and am lucky I've again found a good one.  It's hit and miss and so frustrating.

I hope you get your answers soon

It takes 3 months to get the full effect so, frustrating as it is, you need to give it time. Flushes usually go within a couple of weeks but my anxiety and insomnia took 3 months.

Thankfully, and after so damn long, I'm tentatively reporting a distinct lack of heat for the past 2-3 days (and nights!)!! 😃
I can't remember how long it is since I had a duvet on all night, and slept for more than a few hours at a time! I so hope I've found my oestrogen sweet spot!! 🤞😊
