Post menopausal woes
« on: January 26, 2022, 11:12:25 AM »

 Hi!
I’m new to the forum.  My lovely GP signposted me here and I’m so glad she did  :)
I just wondered if anyone else could share their experiences (if any of this sounds familiar). I’m desperate to know that I’m not alone  :-\
I have always suffered from a certain level of anxiety but, 5 years after my last period, I’m finding my anxiety worsening after taking fluoxetine! Heart palpitations and feeling lightheaded etc. I have changed to sertraline. It’s early days but the palpitations have eased  ;) and feeling a bit calmer. I did wonder if HRT is even better than antidepressants for anxiety?  Whoops, my first post is rather long. Just feel like offloading  ;)

Hi welcome to the forum and keep asking questions  :).

If the anxiety is hormonal based then HRT should be used as the first line treatment, not anti depressants.  Some ladies require both.

Look Up Dr Louise Newson...My Menopause Doctor...she has lots of articles that will help you. xx
