Anyone on continuous utrogestan and patch ?
« on: January 21, 2022, 01:44:29 PM »

Hi there ,  I just spoke to my Gp yesterday about what I thought was thrush ,caused by utrogestan 200mg for 12 days . However, when I was checked by nurse ,she doesn't think it is but maybe dryness.  I've had a swab &waiting for results.  Anyway, as I've been post meno for 3 years the doc wants me to try continuous utro at 100mg orally to avoid the rapid drop in hormones when on sequi.  I'm a bit concerned about it as I've had a hell of a time getting a progesterone to suit me ,but said I'll give it a try .
It's strange how side effects can change, as last month didn't feel too bad ,but this month very tired /groggy and the sore itchy vulva.
My question is ,does anyone take continuous utro post meno ,and how do you get on with it ? They've also at last !mentioned vaginal cream for oestrogen as one doc told me you can't have both!

That Dr should put his/her head down the loo and pull the flush  :beat:

Vaginal atrophy is a totally different condition which has an appropriate totally different HRT to ease symptoms.  Problem arises when the medics read MIMMS or the leaflet in the box ........ which is the same as for generalised HRT!

Get thyself some appropriate VA treatment - what's to lose?

Can't advise on the other query.

 ;D - does my best I does  :D

Could you put utrogestan into the search box and see if any threads pop up?

Lots of women are on conti utro post meno. If you get treatment for your VA you may find your current regime is OK. Do you know if you're OK taking it orally?

Hi Sheila99 👋 doc suggested continuous because he thinks withdrawal is causing my symptoms down below ,and also this month I'm feeling so awful ,very tired and groggy no motivation &low in mood .
He said to take 100mg every night continuously and see how I get on .
I'm 3 years post meno and take it orally .I also take a 25mcg evorel patch .

No wonder you have vaginal symptoms 25 mcg is very low oestrogen dose so as CLKD says get thee to a doc and get some estriol cream or vagifem or one of the newer products. https://www.menopausematters.co.uk/local.php

Maybe consider also increasing the oestrogen because also it seems that some of the progesterone symptoms are worse if on low oestrogen doses and higher does can mask some of the negative effects. You might not even need 100 mg daily on 25 mcg patch but obviously start with that and discuss maybe reducing to slightly less often if your ining remains very thin?

Hello Hurdity how are you ?
Thank you for replying . Been feeling absolutely dreadful today ,so exhausted ,no motivation &low in mood  ;) I'm wondering if it's still withdrawal from 200mg utro which was over a week ago .
I did change to 100 orally for 12 days and felt better ,but my gp says I must have 200 to protect womb .
Today I've increased my patch to 50mcg to see if I can boost oestrogen as feel so bad .
New gp said to try continuous utro with patch ,but I'm worried about symptoms, but going to try. Just so fed up with trying to get this right after 3 years .I was on 50 initially but felt wired ,but this was before periods stopped .
