Hi ladies, I’d be grateful for any advice or words of wisdom as I’m feeling out,of control with my symptoms.
I was on a regime of oral combined & testogel, from private meno specialist for years which really suited me, then the tablet ( Angelique) was discontinued and my specialist retired and I had to give up going privately end of 2019.
Fast forward to February 2021 and my GP changed me to Estradot 50mcg and Utrogestan 100mcg - that’s when things changed!
Bleeding, bloating, nausea, crazy mood swings, crying … you name it I had it!
I was fast tracked for the bleeding but gynaecologist was unable to take a biopsy due to the scar tissue on my cervix so I had MRI and another ultrasound which showed ( at the time) my endometrium @5mm
I was still experiencing the same symptoms so Estradot was increased to 100mcg and still Utrogestan 100mcg orally
Now I have a constant feeling of electric shocks pulsating through my legs and feet, this wakes me up several times a night, I’m crying all the time and the nausea is back with a vengeance 
I had a blood test for estrogen levels and the medical secretary tells me the reading is 288,- can anyone shed any light on this please ?
My next appointment isn’t until April and I really can’t carry on like this .

   awful.  Hopefully someone will be along with advice.  In the mean time ask for a referral to a menopause clinic - it may be quicker to go privately, there should be options ?  Most Clinics have waiting lists.

I really want to know if the electric shock sensations are due to either lack of or too much estrogen?
I can’t find any definitive info on estradiol blood test readings to judge for myself. - the gynaecologist was testing for lack of absorption
And from reading a lot of information I’m thinking the crying and feeling numb could be progesterone intolerance … just KMN

I feel your pain!
It is a god awful situation to be in.
I won't bore you with all my woes (they are on various threads), but you are not alone.

Did you increase from 50 to 100 mg of estradot immediately?
If so, that is a huge jump and could account for some of how you are feeling now?

It is also possible that you are not absorbing the 100mg patch. 288 for that dose, its quite low AND you are still symptomatic. So, I think you need to try and get to see a good private specialist ASAP. If you are North West, I can recommend one, else you could check out the BMS site for names.

Did you notice all the symptoms kick in, once you began the estradot/utro regime?

If you are not absorbing,then you need either a higher dose or a different regime.  Also, some people just don't get on with certain types of HRT preparations. For example, I like evorel 75 with 100 utro. It lifts my mood, libido and general well being. However, it also makes me bleed, so I have stopped (huge mistake) whilst I wait for my womb scan etc..

What dose was your tablet?

Nas … I’ve be been on 100mcg + Utrogestan since October, increased from 75mcg Estradot.
I’ve had mild zapping/adrenal surges and uncontrolled sobbing since starting patches and Utrogestan February 2020 but now it’s constant, haven’t had a decent nights sleep in weeks.
I don’t think I can be absorbing properly.

I’m so sorry to hear about your situation, is it the Utrogestan or Evorel that causes your bleeding?
I hope your scan helps to resolve your issues.

I’ve recently  had 2 trans vaginal scans and an MRI ( and 2 failed, extremely painful hysteroscopies  )
The first scan showed lining @11mm, the MRI didn’t show anything ‘abnormal’ and the second scan showed lining of 5mm - all within 6 weeks … so go figure!!
The gynaecologist thinks the bleeding is caused by VA and I’m on an intense regime of Vagifem.

My previous oral HRT was 1mg estradiol plus a progesterone that isn’t made any longer and I was adding a pea sized amount Testosterone  3x a week.

I’m thinking of stopping the Estradot/Utrogestan because I feel so dreadful.

I was on all sorts of AD’s for over 3 years and had the head zaps too 🥴

MayB drop the dose on alternate nights? or every 4th night?  Keeping a diary helps to chart progress.  One shouldn't feel out of control - it mayB that the dose needs adjusting.

Oh crikey Muriel, you are going through the mill.

It doesn’t sound as though you are absorbing the patch. Could you not go back to the tablet and testogel again? Something similar to what you were on before, as oral suited you better?

I would be inclined to stop the Estradot, but you will need a replacement I would think? Definitely get back in touch with your GP to discuss options. You can’t continue this way.

I don’t understand womb lining measurements either I had similar where one the scan showed a lining of 6mm and the next, 4mm, 4 weeks later! My hysteroscopy revealed a normal  womb etc, but 8 months on, I’m still experiencing issues! Now having to wait a huge amount of time to be scanned again! 😥

Sorry not to be much help Muriel. It’s interesting that your gynae thinks VA could be the root of your bleeding though . Do you get any pain or cramps with it?

Nas … what I ‘think’ 🤔 is that I had spotting due to changes in HRT dosage ( my hormones seems to take weeks if not months to respond) and also bleeding from VA because when I started Vagifem I was in a lot of discomfort the day after and always had a bleed, I also bled very heavily for days  after both scans and both hysteroscopies .
And yes I have a lot of pain, lower back that radiates around my right hip and into lower abdomen, I’m on pain meds every day that’s why the gynaecologist is keeping an eye on me., some days it feels like a proper period pain.

I did try a combined pill Kliofem & Kliovance I think?  but I don’t get on with norethisterone either … I really think I might be progesterone intolerant as I tried Provera and came out in hives!!

Two thoughts... I think Femoston (oral HRT) is well tolerated so you might want to try them as an alternative to Angeliq.   Otherwise you could switch to Evorel patches because I've noticed quite a few women on here have problems with Estradot (nausea and gastrointestinal side effects) and feel better with Evorel.

That’s really interesting 👍  I thought that all estrogens were created equal, I see both Estradot and Evorel contain estradiol 🤔
I’m suffering horrible nausea and constipation so willing to try anything 🥴

If you are constipated = nausea  ......... not something that I could tolerate.
