Silk pillowcase and thinning hair
« on: December 19, 2021, 09:22:58 AM »

Hello ladies
I have very long hair which has gone a lot thinner since surgical menopause. I’m quite aware of the side of my head being a bit sensitive when I’m bed.

Has anyone use a silk pillowcase and noticed any follical difference? It sounds a bit over indulgent!

Hi there, I too have long hair but I always tie it in a braid at bedtime,I've seen those silk pillowcases but personally don't like the thought of them, especially as the majority of people.......no nice way of putting it......drool when sleeping,I'm guessing they would stain easily. Do you use any treatments for your thinning hair?

Funny you should mention this Florrie2 but I’ve had some thinning on one side, discussed it with my hairdresser and it’s the side I sleep on, she said it’s very common. Options are sleep on the other side (can’t sleep on my back), but I find that difficult and always turn back in my sleep, or a silk pillow case, I’m seriously thinking about it x

I’m trialling a shampoo and conditioner that is meant to block the production of DHEA. It is meant to be most effective if you use it regularly and as mine is long and I’m a bit lazy with it, I’m not using it regularly but thought it harm to try it. I’ve only used it 3 times so far.

Ha ha I hadn’t thought of drool! I was more concerned about it not matching the duvet and the other pillow..

I try to sleep on both sides and my back to keep some pressure off my hair.

Maybe I’ll sleep on it  ;) Thanks for your comments
