Coming off HRT
« on: November 19, 2021, 10:00:58 PM »

Has anyone come off HRT and lived to tell the tale?
I’m either bleeding or have tummy cramps, what ever regime I try.
I’ve just switched to sandrena gel from the evorel patch and have started bleeding again!

Had a hysteroscopy in April and all was fine
Will have to contact the GP again re the bleed and start the whole process all over again. I’m pretty sure the bleed is hormonal.
HRT has not sorted my anxiety out either.

Just don’t know what to do any longer?

Thanks

Hey Nas
Sorry to hear that you are still suffering. What is the longest HRT regime you have been on? Have you tried an oral tablet at all? I'm back on the very first HRT I tried and out of everything this seems to be helping with the anxiety? I ended up taking time off work for insomnia too although sleep still a bit rubbish XXX

Thanks Sazzle,
It’s never ending!

Bleeding is my issue now. I’ve just switched to sandrena gel after being on the patch for best part of 14 months. Prior to that, I was on gel for 18 months.

The reason I made the switch from patch to sandrena, was that the patch wasn’t addressing my anxiety and sleep. However, my oestrogen levels were fairly good!

I do have a prescription for oral HRT ( 1mg) but am resigning myself to the fact that HRT just isn’t for me. But then what if the horrid symptoms return??

I’m going to have to have another  hysteroscopy  I think, to check this bleeding out.

How are you doing?
What Hrt regime are you on now then? Xx

Have you tried a mirena? It stops bleeding for most people.

Yes, maybe a coil would work. Don’t like the idea of a foreign object in my body though.

Yes I've gone back to Elleste conti duet I've tried the gel and utrogestan, Lenzetto utrogestan and androfem, admittedly I didn't give the testosterone long but greasy hair wasn't great after a short time. If I don't feel better on the oral I will go back to Lenzetto and tough it out but to be honest every day I felt dreadful even though this appears to be the regime of choice for Menopause clinic and the celebs!!!!! I felt better very quickly on the tablets first time round but think estrogen levels dropped in the background causing anxiety again. I'll give tablets another go, my levels were going up on Lenzetto but it was slow going. I have nearly left my job due to meno symptoms, just had 5 weeks off. Nas try the coil it may work The way I look at it now nothing to lose surely you can't feel any worse! Keep us posted xxxxx
