Progesterone & Testosterone help please
« on: September 07, 2021, 12:37:28 PM »

Hello Everyone I’m going to keep this brief for everyone’s sanity😁
I am on oestrogel, utrogestan and finally (after a private cons ) testosterone.

I was originally using oral utrogestan vaginally ( please don’t judge I was not made aware of vaginal utrogestan till the private cons).
I want to change my prescription with nhs from oral utrogestan to vaginal utrogestan .
I was told I couldn’t have it until it was approved by my surgery because it’s only used for reproductive purposes.

1. Is oral utrogestan cheaper than vaginal utrogestan for nhs?

2.is vaginal utrogestan not licensed for HRT?

Testim question
3. Why do doctors tell you to use the testim tube within 8 days ? I use a pea sized amount yet the tube lasts a lot longer than 8 days. Is it ok to do this?

My understanding is that it's the same product and you just use it vaginally. If that in fact is not the case then I have been using it incorrectly and will prepare to be very judged too  :-\

Thank you Gilla999. Sorry do you mean you have been prescribed utrogestan that says “oral capsules” on the packet and you have been advised to take it by mouth but you use it vaginally?

Yes exactly - my understanding was that it's the same product. But interested to see what others say!

Thanks so much.
Is anyone able to help please with whether vaginal capsules are not licensed by nhs? The gp I spoke to seemed to think that he could not prescribe them for me. I’m finding it so hard to find a gp who is willing to help me. I used savings to speak to the private doctor.

Any help or knowledge would be so appreciated ladies.

Hi you just use the oral capsules in the vagina. The vaginal capsules are only prescribed for fertility reasons.

Thanks Dotty. I guess like with testosterone, some amenable gps may prescribe it but it’s at their discretion.
Thanks for clarity knowing this will stop me stressing myself out attempting to get the surgery I go to prescribe it.
Will find a testosterone thread to get to the bottom of the 8 day rule.
