Worried
« on: September 07, 2021, 09:46:29 AM »

Hi, I contacted Dr Currie explaining my symptoms for last 3 mths. basically that I seem to have spotting, light bleeding, mini light periods followed by spotting. Seems to go on forever and then I get a week off. She said it's probably hormone fluctuations but worth getting examined.

So now I'm worrying. Can't get to speak to GP for 2 weeks.

Am I panicking over nothing?

Probably.  How old are U, are you on any HRT, when was your last monthly period?  My periods waxed and waned for several years. Sometimes' normal', sometimes a few days on/off. Regular then I would miss several months, I knew it was The Change.  Does what it says on the tin  ::)

Could U C the Practice Nurse any faster?

Some find it useful to keep a mood/food/symptom diary.

I.'m 47, posted a couple of times over the last month. I'm on a very light period at the moment, with tender breasts in parallel. Her response is probably a standard one but it's set my anxiety going......I tend to assume an assessment or exam will bring bad news....

Whereas I always think that once I am aware of issues, they can be dealt with  ::)

If U keep to the same thread, muggins here can keep up  ;D - you're dealing with a meno-brain here

Thanks CLKD.

My dilemma is do I push to speak to my gp and get a referral to a gynae. Or keep logging notes and wait a few weeks till I can speak to her on the phone.

And then will I trust my gp knows what she's talking about ....

I wouldn't bother with a gynaecologist because they know little more about menopause than many GPs  >:(

Your body will need to settle for a while on which ever regime you decide to use.  The body doesn't get where it is usually in a hurry, so it will take a while to adjust.  Unless there's been surgical intervention.

Thanks both, your responses have cheered me up. Anyone else who can provide feedback, please do. My husband can't understand what I'm getting worked up about.....

Good luck, understand completely how you feel  :tulips: going through this myself with my periods. I seem to be having a period all the time and I don't like it. Just waiting for the Dr to get back to me. Don't be afraid to keep contacting your Dr when you need to know some answers. It's hard at times trying to get an answer, getting through to a Dr is stressful enough, but keep trying... really hope things get better for you! We need to look after ourselves  :foryou: :foryou:

I need to rant
« Reply #14 on: September 25, 2021, 10:56:56 AM »

Hi,

I'm getting a scan on Monday to check my lining, as my periods seem to go on for days; although they're much lighter. My GP isn't worried and thinks it's perimenopause, but I am still nervous tbh, but trying to tell myself it'll be okay.  Meanwhile I have just been signed off work for two weeks for "stress at home and work". My marriage is shakey and my husband honestly drives me insane, we can't seem to communicate and he doesn't seem to get how low and unhappy i've become. Work is relentless because we're under resourced, and my boss is not easy. I just want to stop for a while and feel like me again. The GP has doubled my antidepressants but maybe this is all hormones related. I just want to be taken care of and stop crying all the time. God I'd love to be 21 again... :'(.

Anyone going through similar?

S
